I dont drift a Miata but there are a few nice ones here on the island. So far I've seen 6 nice ones and I think 4 of them drift. Sorry I dont have any specs on any of them.

I have a 95 miata and I drift it here in Florida at my monthly auto cross, and occasionally on the street. Great little car, I will never give mine up. Need A LOT more miata drifters.

Miatas are great cars...very grippy, very reliable. It's a well balanced drivers car, despite the notions that it's a girly car.

For the price I see people paying for corollas, they could have gotten a nice zenki 1.6 liter, or maybe even one of the later 94+ 1.8 liter miatas. Miata is practically the official car of SCCA, and there is a huge aftermarket and track support for them.

I don't own a miata but own several mazdas...i'd love to have one.

I think I have a few pics of miatas from the last several irwindale drift events. As for setup, that's all dependent on the driver's preferences...what may work for one person may not work for another

                  drift qualities?
anyone know any specific qualities of the little roadster that make it good for drifting or bad for drifting? basically any and all positives and negatives. here's my ideas thus far:

                  positives
                  1. light and nimble
                  2. small (easy to control?)
                  3. rwd (duh)
                  4. potential for gobs of power (150 to 400 w/ right kit and tuning)
                  5. decent aftermarket supply
                  6. good stock handeling

                  negatives
                  1. short wheel base (may be snap happy, not sure)
                  2. parts can be expensive
                  3. anemic stock hp sucks
                  4. maybe too good of handeling (not sure if suspension geometry will be good for drifting)
                  5. *Censored**Censored**Censored* looking, girly car (and to be honest i don't know how to make it look like it's got balls. LOL)
                  6. convertible=lots of chasis flex w/o major bracing=weight.

                  any takes on these things?

also, would the jr supercharger system work well for drifting on a miata?
