First things first, i want to thank Kayla Montgomery for letting us use her pictures from the event.
Palm beach was just a crazy event. Had a bunch of the Florida drivers show up and a few from the other southern states. There were a bunch of upsets, and some crazier battles in the final 4 and Finals. Florida’s own Pat Goodin did a great job, took the a 3rd place finish, and still holds the points lead for SWD.
Miles Flick for sure had one of the more designed cars in Pro-am, Stick’em Up Graphics did an an amazing job on it.
This guy right here, in a NA KA 240 pulled the most upsets of the day! He barely made it in in the 16th qualifying position, and he was matched off with Chris Ward the number one qualifier, he beats Chris, and in his great 8 battle he defeated Joe, and he faced Doug Van Den Brink in the final 4 and just couldn’t keep up with him. He ended up battling Pat Goodin for 3rd place but made two mistakes, spinning on his follow run exiting the second clip, and on his lead spinning right before the final clipping point. So for a NA KA to finish 4th in such a good field, was a very big surprise to many.
Patrick Goodin did a great job this weekend, i was for sure hoping to see him in the finals but he just couldn’t edge out Ryan Kaufman in the final 4. His top 16 and top 8 battles were very good, edged out the drift emporium G35, in the top 8, the G35 just couldn’t hold his car together spinning out left and right. In his final 4 battle he made one mistake on the first clip on his follow run and that just decided the whole battle sadly, Ryan did everything right on his follow run, and sadly taking Pat out. Pat faced the NA KA 240 in the battle for 3rd, and took that with no problems due to the 240 spinning on both runs. With another 3rd place finish, he still holds the points lead for SWD.
Ryan Kaufman had a very good day, had some good battles and an even better one in the finals with Doug. In his great 8 battle, he battled Jeremy Lowe, the two FC’s went head to head, one rotary, one V8, Ryan followed Jeremy first and did a excellent job and stay all over his door, when Jeremy followed, he was all over Ryan but coming up on the 3rd clip made a mistake and straightened up to give Ryan the win. He then faced Pat Goodin in the final 4 and took him out, Pat made a correction on his follow run, and Ryan was just all over Pat to take the win. In his final battle against Doug, he was gradually getting pulled on after the second clipping point, and on his lead run he just couldn’t leave Doug, Doug was just all over his door the whole run, finishing second, Ryan did an excellent job!
Doug Van Den Brink had a great weekend. Taking the win over Ryan in the finals with a great lead and follow run, he seemed like he was unstoppable the whole weekend! Congratulations on the win!
Congratulations guys!
