thanks anyway. i dont think ill sandblast cos im trying to do this cheap. and the wheels are just for autox/drift so it doesnt really matter.

it does to a certain extent but some good ol elbow grease with the help of some sand paper is the key to getting rid of the impurities, The guy from Wheel Factory called me today and said i won't have my wheels back for another 2 weeks, He told me he will never polish a set of wheels like that again. I just want to get them back they have had them for 2 weeks already. I've seen one and they look fantastic, can't wait to get them back. Sorry i'll post pics in a couple weeks.

Sandblasting would be best. It also cleans up the metal of all impurities i think

get a can of aircraft quality paint stripper that stuff works really well i used it on mine before i decided to have them powdercoated. Another method would be to sandblast them, but that may take some time.

Good it would be nice to see what theyre gonna look like.
But could someone tell me how to strip old spray paint off alloy wheels? Cos Im buying some that are painted yellow (?) for cheap and im going to need to get that off but if i cant, ill just have to spray the whole thing.

you're talking about these, right?
they aren't panasports or watanabes but i guess they look kinda similar. because i have panasport x-lites on the car right now like this:

Powdercoating is when a coat of this powder is sprayed on the material. Then its placed in an oven and the powdercoat melts into the material. Its extremely durable

The powdercoater also took all the texture off, so the wheels are nice and smooth

Get them powdercoated, it's much more durable. I had mine done at a local shop for $250
