Why you Need to Bleed SR20DET Hydraulic Lifters ; We are now going to bleed our stock (SR20DET) hydraulic lifters ; now these lifters are not self- bleeding , it says it in the manual , you need to bleed them yourself so I take a small piece of welding wire or a small allen wrench , stick it through the opening hole and you'll feel around and there's a soft spot in the bottom and that'll allow the lifter to plunge and you'll see all that air that comes out … all that air has to come out , has to be solid oil or they will cause you to break rockers , throw rockers or have really loud valve train noise , so just give it a couple pumps , you'll feel it come up and down and then what you do is you take the lifter , still submerged in oil , take it over the cylinder head and you'll actually drop it into the lifter bore ; so we will now install it into the lifter bore
