  • FS: 1992 240sx with SR20det and Silvia Front end

    For Sale: 1992 Nissan 240sx
    Asking Price: $10,000
    E-mail: cphelps5@tampabay.rr.com

I know my asking may seem a little high, but I’ll explain why this car is different than other 240’s that are for sale.

The paint is what separates this 240 from all the others. It’s not the color, but the quality. Unfortunatly, pictures do not give it justice. Don’t let ads that state ‘Custom paint’ or ‘Show car paint’ fool you as these are just words. Notice how they never really explain the quality of the paint job? Well, I will. The paint on this beauty is GLASS SMOOTH. It’s smoother than my wife’s new car. This is not a $350 paint job. Don’t believe me? Come see the car in person! With that said, let’s look at what it takes to build a 240 like this.

    First, start with the car:
Clean 1992 240sx Coupe 5spd, accident and rust free $1500.00

    Then, the Exterior:
paint job done by the master Samuel’s Auto in Viper Red. $3500.00
Full JDM Silvia front end with non-projector glass headlights, GTR grill and factory lip. $1600.00
Silvia rear emblem and trunk lock with key $75.00
    Brand New Windshield $350.00

    Move into the Interior:
Autometer Boost gauge mounted to the pillar $100.00
    JDM Gauge Cluster (KM/H) $125.00
Drift/ Pole position steering wheel with the ultra dish $75.00
    Drift E brake knob $25.00

    Now add your Drivetrain:
    SR2ODET S13 Blacktop $2800.00
l8Osx Driveshaft (Price included with engine)
    l8Osx Viscous LSD $350.00
ACT Heavy Duty pressure plate and sprung solid clutch disc $397.00
3 inch exhaust from the turbo back
    Greddy 3 inch downpipe $159.99
    Apex NI Exhaust $449.99
Enjuku Racing GReddy Hot Pipe w/ Flange $119.00
    ER Air Intake Kit $179.99
GReddy Type RS Blow Off Valve $189.99
Greddy R Spec Front Mount Intercooler Kit $879.99
Ford Taurus SHO Electric Fan $50.00
    Silvia Radiator $215.00
    New coolant resivour bottle $65.00
    Walbro 255 Fuel Pump $119.99
Optima spill proof battery relocated to trunk $95.00
Brand new OEM power steering lines $300.00
Brand new S15 Metal layer Exhuast gasket $50.00

and finally, Suspension, Braking, and Shoes:
    16” Sprint Hart CP-R wheels (16x7 +34 front, 16x7.5 +32 rear) $1600.00
GAB fully treaded coilovers with helper springs and camber plates $1800.00
4 way adjustable dampening in the front and 8 way in the rear
New tierod ends and balljoints $200.00
New brakes all the way around $150.00

    Total so Far: $17520.94

    and People always forget Labor:
    SR swap alone is $1200
Add another $1000 for misc labor (minimum)

    Total to re-create this car = $19720.94
I won’t even bring up costs to ship all the parts, taxes, etc.

    'Condition':
All A/C components are installed, including the custom A/C line. All that is needed is for the A/C system wiring to be completed and A/C to be charged.
Drivers seat is worn through on the left side
Dash has some small hairline cracks
Trunk is ‘unfinished’. Basically, it has no carpet, no panels, not re-painted. I mostly carry spare tires for drifting back there.
The front bumper has a paint chip missing (size of a quarter)
Front end has little nicks consistent with a daily driven car
The plastic panel that covers the ECU is missing
Carpet is JDM black (RHD) and does not fit perfectly

    Charles

Why are so many people selling their projects? I too own a 240sx coupe like yours and plan on a SR20det in the future with other JDM goodies. How do people lose interest in their projects and just want to sell them off? J/W.

why did u choose to put in a viscous lsd. clutch types are more drift friendly. viscous diffs have a tendency to lag when trying to lock because the snot has to get to the correct formation before it is actualy lsd. quaife diffs are less famous but similar in respect to both. i would reccomend a 2 way clutch type. if would help with the peg legging problem when you feint or power over when drifting.
        nice nice nice car though
i wouldnt feel safe on the road with that paint though

If I were to keep the car, a Nismo 2way was next on my list. The reason I didn't do it yet? I drive 50 miles a day through rush hour traffic in this car. She is daily driven.

The reason I'm selling has nothing to do with the cars ability to drift. Heck, I'm replacing it with a used BMW 5 series that will never see a track.

I'm not scared to drive it daily, while the paint is awesome, the car was built to be driven.
