  • MR2 Turbo - San Antonio

not exactly a drift car~ but why not post it here anywayz

There is an RX-7 and an LS1 sitting next to each other in my garage, so it's time to sell the MR2 and get on with my project.

Its a 91 Turbo, Black w/ Tom's kit (car used to be red)
power windows, mirrors, ABS, manual steering (this seems to be a rare options combination). Manual steering is very light- dont let it scare you.
-the engine was rebuilt at 152k miles by a mechanical engineer in Austin using all OEM parts, to include a new OEM clutch in the summer of '03
-at 162k (Spring '05) my friend was kind enough to blow my headgasket while i was on leave (the water neck cracked, allowing water to escape- he didnt pay attention to the temp guage). I figured the head was probably warped, so I played it safe and sourced a low mileage virgin head (80K miles, 1st time pulled from the engine- owner was rebuilding his bottom end for more power and already had a built head). Most the heater/coolant hoses were replaced at this time (anything showing signs of wear).
Maximum Velocity did the work here in San Antonio. When I got the car back, the A/C didnt work anymore- they couldn't figure out why.
-TTE MLS h/g (same used on ATS Racing's 500hp MR2)
    -ARP head studs
-CT-26 w/ 46 trim compressor (dont know if the turbine was clipped- I would guess not)
    -3" DP
-Greddy Power EVO single exit exhaust
    -TwosRUs MBC
    -TwosRUs polyurethane bushings
-Eibach ProKit springs and camber bolts
-TechTom ECU, tuned by Aaron at ATS Racing
    -Autometer boost, A/F guages
    -White faced guages
-Fog lights run independantly of running lights

    Problems
-Synchros are kinda crappy. You can't shift very fast (doesnt really bother me- I dont race at all). It doesnt grind, it's just harder to shift at high RPM.
-Passenger side window switch is finicky (driver's controls work fine)
-EBrake barely works. One of the side cables cable broke. I should be fixing it pretty soon

dyno chart- the boost spiked to 17PSI, then fell to about 13 by redline. this was with my old MBC- the TwosRUs MBC hold boost much better
