They have been making escorts a lot longer than many of you probably realize. They owned rally for a long time and many still do. If I am not mistaken some of the first were RWD. I dont even know if they were made available to the public but I have seen old RWD escort rally cars. As for the topic, Supras are a little heavy. (and by a little I mean, try sitting on top of an hippo and kicking its tail until it slides sideways no offense to any of you Mk. III drivers *nods at ACD and emission*) I have an FC and love it. My S14 doesnt compare for any motorsport and that includes drifting.

Soultron: Considering this guy didnt get flamed, Im goin with 4-6 days.

I didnt say I could take you now. I said Ill take you when you lose your dignity and drop a piston engine in that beautiful ride. But I do wanna run against you regardless. I hope you like Vegas. Youll need to come down and crash with the DC guys this year. Can you say 10 car tandem drifting, and you know the guys love wangan.

If I make it to Vegas. I would have to come along way north to get to DC as well. Plus if I dropped that piston engine in that 7, it will be much faster than it is now. Believe that. At this time I make around 342 at the wheels. If I go V8, it's gonna round 400. Same weight, same car, but with more HP and gobs more tourque.

Still, I am thinking more each day of not doing it and 99% sure I am not. Researching other stuff at the moment, as long as it continues to run or I don't sell it, I won't be doing anything to it. Plus i'm more of a Gripper than a Drifter so you might want to stick me at the back of that 10 car line

Unlike purists out there I will do anything to make a car fast. If that takes putting a V8 into one then thats what I will do.

It's all about making power. Yes I can make power with a Rotary, that's proven. But you sacrifice reliability and with a rotary which are already known for their stellar reliability, uh yea, is like cutting your own throat. Yes they can be reliable, I agree with that. But a Chevy is reliable, cheap, easy to work on and easy to replace. Whereas a Rotary is none of those things.

But don't get yourselves all worked up. I will go back Rotary. Gave up on the V8 idea.

Woohoo no V8. Oh BTW, DC means DriftCentral.com Near all of the mods over there are moving to Vegas within the year, including me.

As a purist, I will do ANYTHING to make a car fast with the engine it came with or another engine from the same manufacturer.

Same weight, same car, but with more HP and gobs more tourque.
                  But half the revs.

Infact here in Finland we have those RWD-escorts. Cheapest goes from 1000-2000usd, and you can even find some mk2 RS2000 with affordable price.

Here's one Escort mk2 with Sierra Cosworth engine and over 300bhp. And it sure makes great slides!

Actually there has already been a v8 7. I forgot the company but they dropped a WS6 engine in the FD and let me tell you it's crazy fast. In my case I'll stay with rotary all the way

What difference does this make? All this means is he'll have to rev the engine less to make more torque...

It also means (and forgive me from stealing from dave coleman) it will have to shift twice as soon, into his weaker second gear ratio. weaker in the terms of torque multiplication. Though i cant say how this effects drifting. at least im not certain, I've only ever drifted my 240.

I've got a buddy with a 96 SS (LT1) I think it revs to about 6 grand. When he shifts, it does drop further down in revs than a car that revs higher with the same gear ratios/final drive, but that isn't relative at all because he makes his power waaay differently than the higher revving engine does.

Just because an engine revs high, doesn't make it superior or inferior to anything. It's just how that engine operates.

yeah its very true. More revs are always better if everything else is equal, but its hard to say motor A is better then Motor B because A revs higher. especialy if they make power in totaly differnt areas.
