  • FF Drifters HELP ME!!!

    ok, i know this has prolly been asked before, so before you flame me, please redirect me to the previous thread (if there is one).

    I need to know if there is any way to convert a FWD layout to RWD? if not, i need to know what kind of suspension mods i should do to make an FF car able to hold a slide. Thank you for your help

    I know its bit of a cliche, but Anything is possible with enough money.

    I think this was covered recently the idea of converting FWD to RWD i mean, Look for a similar car in the line up thats RWD thats the easiest way. I know theres at least one RWD Drift integra.

    What are you driving? or rather what do you want to convert?

    as for drift components, Me and a friend were out last night.... on a sanctioned track... and he took his completely stock 330k 91 civic HB and put it sideways pretty damn well with the handbrake He had experimented with it before, but he was really on fire that night. I saw from in and out of the car. And though hes still just learning they were very impressive looking handbrake drifts.

    so basicly i would say you dont need any mods. Now if you wanted to get more into it, i would suggest basicly the same thing as a rear wheel drive car. Tune it so that the rear brakes traction first. Meaning stiffer rear, harder lesss sticky compound tires, higher PSI in the rear tires.. ect..

      what the hell is the point? Seriously. A drift car is going to get wrecked, No way around that..Why the hell would you spend tons of money converting a FWD to a RWD..and probably still not even have good weight balance..And then go drift and mess it up? Save your money and buy a RWD vehicle..Its simple as that. Sorry to flame, But come on now..Use logic!

          There is no need to convert a FWD to a RWD. look to preform a drift with a FF car you have to use a technique called left foot breaking. i would recommend looking into learning that technique before you look at spending a whole lot of money for other cars, or conversions...

            Suspension set up is pretty straight forward. The rear needs to be very stiff and you need to get rid of EVERY ounce that you can. Make the rear (From the front seats back) as light as you can.
            Use an adjustable sway bar and set it to the hardest setting and if your car has a toe setting, set the rear wheels out. Run standard normal tires in the rear and sticky tires up front with a softer suspension setting.

              why would you toe out?
              wouldnt you want toe in?
              toe out makes it more solid

                yea man you can do that.

                iam not shure how tho lol. but i seen people do it before.

                before you start think...

                1. do u have time ??? if you dont, dont do it you probably will give up and have no car to drive in, and if you dont drift much, it will be kinda useless, or you can buy a cheap used 240sx and drift that.
                2 do you have the money and tools ??
                if you dont have the money buy a cheap driftable car, and you will have lots of money left over for upgrades
                if you dont have the tools dont bother lol, tools are expensive unless you go to a shop and get it done which will be expensive.

                but ill tell you this right now ANYTHING can be done, if you try.

                  theres an inetgra DC2 down here converted to rwd using a CR-V drivetrain (4wd) with the front disabled. too bad it was really front heavy though.

                            what kind of car are you drifting? my escort holds up fine and its FF, with stock suspension. ill probly break it one day....but until then, im keepin it sideways
