Good point.... The japanese drivers are great and awsome at car control, I would give that. Are there drivers here that could give them a run? Maybe, but do not discount it. These guys have been playing this game for several years, in their own back yard on their own private racetrack. If you have worked in the media industry for several years then you should not know about this group (well actually 4 guys). As far as their experience, just a little note as far as endurance, 2 of them have won championships in grand am and ALMS, and American touring car (not the nasa series, the real one in 1998). So their ability to battle drift, I would put money on them in a heartbeat. They may not be able to drift as well as the D1 guys, but they will sure give it one hell of a shot!! I think on the next 3 years you will see some American drivers that will keep up and place in the competitions. As the sport grows here in the US I think there will be a lot more race drivers becoming active in the sport, and the movement has already begun... I like this discussion hope to hear from you soon...I think there may have been some race drivers in competition already...

Thats a pic of the Signal Twins (Komatsu and Bai) doing a tandem drift at Hawaii Raceway Park. They come down the straight (actually its part of the 1/4 mile drag strip with guardrails on both sides) at over 80 mph and pull off a long slide to take that turn (1/8th mile turn, 90 degrees) tandem.

Look, I dont want you to think I'm saying that USA drivers will never be as good as Japan drivers. We need to give respect where respect is due, and the fact is, Japan guys deserve respect from all of us. Its great for us to have confidence in our abilities, but we shouldnt make ourselves (our image as USA drivers) look bad by hyping ourselves up too much. USA drivers will need some time to catch up before we can say stuff like 'car control the world has never seen.' And remember, those Signal guys are good (really good!) but they are not ranked in the top 100 in Japan. Can you imagine the skill level of the drivers in the top 15? Think about it.

Hell yeah they deserve respect. I'm not saying they suck or anything in fact they are the best drifters in the world. The car control I'm talking about is things like a reverse drift, thats where the car is going backwards at 40mph and they can make the front slide back and forth. I would like to see someone with that amount of skill and control. I tried it and all I did was a reverse 180. I have never seen another driver do that, ever. That is the kind of car control I'm talking about. I also saw one of them do a 720 down the freeway at 100 mph and come out straight on purpose. Ive never seen a drifter do that. How bout tandem 360's at 80 mph ever seen that? Ever seen a Van do a 360? or drift? How about tandem reverse 900's? All this crazy stuff will come out in the next 2 years on video. Also one of these guys was an Ice racer, thats all drifting... But my hats off to the Japanese D1 and signal drivers they got super skill and look pretty doing it!! I'm not trying to say we are the best, but there is a hidden scene here in the US that may be of interest to the drift community. I hate to see a certain group get dissed because someone saw something at a drift event and then ridicule them (RSR in particular) before they know the facts!! Just for the record They were invited out and did not get to do what they were told they could. therfore complete mayhem breaks out.... but did the guys in the mustangs have skills yes did they get to show it, no

Just my thoughts, and I'm looking forward to see the best drifters in the world. See everyone there should be awsome!!!

              Later guys
