its possible to drift a 4wd but its hard. cause you wont know if your rear end is kickin out.it is sed that to drift a 4wd you will need lots of power.but im not sure about that.hope this helps.

It's harder to sustain a high angle drift with 4wd since your front wheels are correcting so much towards the angle you point them.
In 4wd drifting is more about weight transfer and less about throttle manipulation and countersteering than in rwd.
If you're in dirt though, 4wd would be way cooler to drift with.
Plus Rally is the origination of drifting as a driving technique.

        4wdDrift

I have hear that to drift W/ a 4wd car after you have taken the turn to pop your clutch and floor it. If you are able to loose grip then you would control the turn only with steering and not by adjusting your gas pedel. Thats the 411 I got on 4wd drift hope its right.

Its not that much harder then with rwd, just need more entry speed.

i have done some drifts in an AWD. not 'true' drifts, just a power over n slide. its def. possible, but i dont no if i would want to... i saw a pic of a lancer evo drifting and it fliped one turn like 10 times...scary stuff. not that a rwd would be to much less flippable, but it seems less likely to.

can be done if you practice alot and most people say you need alot of horse power just to make it loose traction lol

Correct me if i'm wrong. Can'y you 'lock' your gears in order 2 lose all traction. The way you do this is by up-shifting and brakeing at the same time. dont quote me, cuz im not shure. Thats what I've heard. I wouldn't know, i have an 86
