    I am getting a CA dropped in soon and i was wondering how much if any change there was in the style of drifting/technique you used. Since the KA is nice and torque its relativly easy ( well for me ) to get her sideways by just using the torque...so did anyon notice a big difference once motor was swapped??

    I can't tell you much personally about engine swaps, but I know enough about general car behavior to tell you that, yes, your technique will change...somewhat.

    Basically, with a different engine comes a different powerband. This is something you'll need to relearn. You'll have to relearn the required throttle amounts to get the car to do what you want. You may also have to adjust shift points if the rpm band is too different. If the engine has more available power, you may find the new engine is overall easier get the rear end loose and drift. If you find it has less, you may have to make a greater effort to break the rear end loose, or even compensate less power with a faster entry into the corner and a touch more steering into the corner for both initiating and maybe even during the drift if you have to compensate for the lower power. If the new engine lacks low end but really kicks in in the higher rpms, you may find it more of a challenge to control. You may be forced to break the rear end loose in the beginning of the drift, but you'd have to immediately be ready when the engine powerband kicks in and really gets the tires spinning. Really, the biggest change in throttle control. However, you may find your steering angles slightly different when compensating for less or more power in certain situations compared to your previous motor. The overall drifting techniques always remain the same - the control changes.

    Notice I'm speaking in a very general sense. Sorry, I know nothing about the two engines you speak of other than what car they're for. I don't know the behavior differences or power differences, so I kept my post in a general manner...really applyable to any car with any change in engine.

      hey i appreciate the response. u confirmed basically what i thought. I am used to drifting with the KA ( stock 240 motor ) and it being rather torque but once i put 3 inch piping went on no power on low ends had to drift faster/higher on the band to keep it sideways. once again thanx for the response and confirming what i thought.

        also remember that the Ca weghs less than the ka (so does the sr20) cause of its smaller displacement, so you are likely to get more under than you are used to
