HAHA, sdtouge, don't worry about those dumb SR people. They don't realize a good engine when they see one. I get the same crap when I talk about my RB. The SR guys sit and talk smack about the RB's, but just keep in mind that the SR replaced the CA only because it was cheaper for Nissan. So the next time an SR guy attacks you, just keep in mind that you have the better motor.
Yeah, CA parts are easy to find. The CA came in the S12(200sx). The CA is an awesome engine and the valvetrane doesn't need to be replaced at 300hp like the SR's does

i just revied my finacail situation and if i want a lsd and some keo office coiovers i am going to have to put a used ka24e in. but next summer hopefully i will have a ca18det to show the sr20guys whats up
what rb do you have? i would love to have a rb20, they are sooo sick

Actually, you should do a KA-T. I know a couple of people that have done it and it's an awesome motor. Tons of torque. But the CA is great to, loves to rev

that would be sick but itrs sooo much money, even if you were to do it yourself, for the price of the engine you could have a really sick rb20. everyone allways talks crap about the rb's being heavy but there really not. did you notice a difference at all?
i read you can get a crank from a rb26 and have yourself a rb24, not sure though
do rb20 redline at 7.5k or 8.0k stock?

RBs ARE heavy. The RB25DET weighs 180lbs more than a KA. That's significant. Heck, even the RB20DET weights 50-60 pounds more than a KA. That's also significant. Sure, if you spent some money that difference could disappear, but that's not the point. The point is that the RB will always be heavier than the KA.
Put the KAE in and save up. Then turbo it, or install a DE and turbo that. No one can argue with 240whp on 8psi. 218whp at 7psi with an automatic. 280whp at 9.5psi. 352whp (not typical) on 11-12psi. 283whp at 11psi. 533whp on 26psi.
The KA is a worthy motor.

the ka is a very worthy motor, i dont think the extra 60 pounds from a rb would really make that big of a difference unless you really had some driving skills. i am not saying you dont, but i am saying i doubt i would be able to tella difference without spending a long time on the track with both of them.
i would like to get a kae replacement because i am doing the swap myself and i think the wiring of the dohc conversion muight give me a little more than a headache. but i dont know of any close to sd that are for sale. i would also like one with low miles. i thin it would be rad to have a sohc turbo that could spank mosst of the sr guys.
if you want to see some good kat.s go to ka-t.org this guy there jordan builds sohc manifolds for really cheap, he drives a 12 second sohc .
i know that you have good reasoning behind everything your saying, especailly with the ca18det stuff earlier, sorry if i seemed like a *Censored**Censored**Censored**Censored*. i am just a kid and get a little compulsive sometimes. I change my mind everyday about what i want to do to my car. I also know everybody is getting tired of "i want an sr20 with a huge turbo so i can drift like jdm tyte yo even though i have had my licrense for 7 hourrs i still know what i am doing and rock at drifting" type sh*it which i dont think i said in this threead but whatever. i dont think this paragraph made sense so to cut it short sorry about kinda freaking out on you eralier grid.

I hope I didn't mislead you. The motor isn't in the car yet, but it is in the garage Another guy in town has an RB20 powered S13 vert. So I got to feel what that was like. All I have to say is WOW!
Nothing wrong with KA-T. However, it just wasn't my route because I want to be a little "Different". I also like the massive torque for the 6 cylinder than the 4. So that's why the RB20 makes up for that extra weight.
Also, nothing wrong with changing your mind. Hell, I didn't know what I wanted to do at first. I was gonna get this AE(reason for the current screen name) and do a 4agze. Than I wanted an FC. Than I wanted a 240 with an SR. Than I wanted the RB. So I did some research and luckily, one of my good friends had a RB26 swapped S14. He clued me in on what a great motor the RB is and said he would help me with the install. But it all depends on what you want.

It is not the weight of a rb its were the weight sits. You SR bashing idiots probably never have owned or driven for that mater an SR. I own a SR20det, KA24de, and have driven a CAdet. I love SR's, the CA was fun, and I absolutely dispise the dependibility of the KA. Sure there are highly mechanically inclined guys out there that can baby the KA and turbo it to whoop an SR (laughs), but most want a motor that they know has proven itself in every test thrown its way from road racing, to drag, to drifting, to daily mu fu driving. There is nothing like the feeling of pulling up to a light in a 250whp SR, look at the tach and there is no idle flux. I'll gladly pay a few hundred extra to be jdm tyte yo with a motor that I love.
