I also don't have to rebuild the valvetrain when I make more than 300hp - mine can take it.

In the end, I'm glad people are doing both. The more variety, a cooler car world we live in. Me, I like the KA-T. You like the SR, and that's cool too. Neither is a bad motor, and they're both cool setups. You get the JDM factor, I get a rarity factor.

It's all about the love, baby.
i think you missed the bassis of his post. basically he was saying its hard to find a low mileage ka to swap into your car in the first place, most of the kas have 100+ miles on them.
personally ill prolly end up turboing the ka (if i get a 240) since the cost, but i love srs since they can revv soo high, that is just awesome of a sound.
anyone know of any shops were you can get your ka rebuilt, or of a company that possibly stocks low mileage kas ? that would be very helpful for future refrecne. when i say low mileage i think 70,000 or less is low enough.

no, I really am saying the Ka t's suck. jk. the point that I'm trying to make is that it is not about cost, it is about quality. It is decieving to lead people to think that they should turbo their 150,000+ mile single cam motor without some serious rebuilding. It is worth the cost when you get a low mileage motor that already has turbo and plenty of support and performance history to back it up. When people start posting winning cars that run the Kat setup, then Ill pay it respect but until then I will not trust a dyno reading as a sign that it is a good motor.

You can find some high HP KA-Ts at ka-t.org.

My car had 62k on it when I bought it, so I'll be boosting without a rebuild. And I'm not a fan of boosting the KA24E (the SOHC version). People do, but I'd rather the DOHC. And you have a valid point about the age of the motors, but is any SR20DET you get from overseas really going to be much better? They're all ~50k motors, and you have no idea how they've been driven either.

Oh, and I don't envy you guys having to worry about oil starvation for a minor dent in your oil pans. That's gotta suck
