I wouldn't go so far as to say that D1 is rigged but it did seem like the judging got really shoddy towards the end. I'm not sure if this was due to time constraints or the pain of all of the "one more time" BS. All in all I enjoyed it a lot...the cold kinda sucked but for an evening of D1 for roughly the price of a decent meal out or a movie and snacks you can't beat it.

    Weekend Highlights:

    1) Getting Mr. Amemiya to sign my RE Amemiya shirt
    2) Getting a photo with Orido
    3) Seeing Americans drive for the first time since the first driver's search I went to...holy mother of God is there a light and day difference in skill now. Way to go guys!

    Low points:

    1) Walking...walking...walking...
    2) Freezing my butt off in the stands waiting for things to wrap up
    3) Fight behind me in the VIP section during the D1...lame

Same to that GTO, he is american in Japan, that could cause a lot of unfairness.

I havent seen the video so I cannot say if GTO should win or lose.

I didn't mean to say I am of the opinion that D1 is rigged, just that there are a lot of people that think that. Those people are more or less people that feel like they have been wronged by D1 or something. Like thinking they were robbed of a comp lic. or something, or know someone that has. I don't know enough about it to say wither way, and I have worked their events. I don't think it is rigged, no one can be 100% unbiased, so it may be a little biased at times (not saying it was or was not Sunday), but not 'rigged'. That is my opinion.

this is why i think there should be more the 3 judges. if there were like 10 judges and average out the scores it would be better.

Chris Forsberg is my HERO! Beating Tanaka and almost knocking off Taniguchi in a car with a nearly stock SR20 (cams only). Team FALKEN/K's Factory and Forsberg put that machine to the ultimate test. Just goes to show you that some of the US drivers are truely talented and with time will eventually be at their level and better!

Oh yeah.....D1 is not rigged.....but something is definetly Fishy?

...d1 is not rigged, put it this way alot of times in watching the videos, so much goes on that none of us even know about. and after this weekend and being able to see it all unfold first hand from rol-in to shakedown to practice to drivers meeting to the actual event, it is clear (to me anyway) that it was not rigged. But you must be able to understand all that is going on to get that point.....toshi explained it all as it happened and with that i saw what the drivers were doing, or trying to do, and how the judges viewed them in competition...example would be when Tsuchiya explained why chris won against Tanaka, he said it was not about what tanaka did wrong in the runs, he did good, but it was about what chris did extremely well....I learned alot about this sport this weekend, just my thoughts

                  D1 rigged?

It is hard to be objective when you have your alliances. Judging criteria was laid out but staying objective is difficult when you have your favorites. It is only when better drivers screw up bigtime that judges score them unfavorably. Although our American drivers did not finish on top this weekend, the Japanese judges and best drifters have taken notice how much drifting has improved over a short period of time in the United States. Thanks to companies like Falken Tires, Blitz, Greddy, and event promoters like Mainstream, Slipstream Global, D1GP, and Drift Day, drifting will continue to become popular and local driving talent will continue to improve.

                    yes yes
BIASED is what we should be saying instead of RIGGED>
in something like drifting, you can't really RIG an event.
cars break, people mess up, people spin, etc.

of course it's biased. everything is biased.

doesn't matter though because it is FUN AS HELL to watch and do.

i'll keep doing it until i ca't do it anymore.

Thanks for all the support guys. It was an intense battle against the japanese drivers. They are very fast and very consistent. I was having problems with the car all weekend and didnt even get to make full throttle runs until sunday night when qualifying began. Running with Tanaka was a blast. He is so energetic and fun. We were hanging out before and after the runs. And getting the advantage after the first run with Taniguchi still blows my mind. Having the chance to run with these drivers and learn from them was overwhelming enough.

I am just very excited that all the american drivers are almost to the point where we are even with the japanese drivers skill levels.

The FD3S advancing over the GTO is complete bull crap in my opinion. The GTO did spin out in the first run, but he passed the end of the judged course when he did that. In fact, Rhys entered slower, but he cought up to the FD by the third turn.

The second run was an awesome display of Rhys's capability because he completely shut out Imamura before turn one.

The next two runs were both very consistant runs by both drivers. Noone had an advantage in my opinion. Imamura learned Rhys's strategy and adapted. Rhys drove like he always does.

If you judge the runs based on all four runs, the second run was enough to say that Rhys Millen won.

Yes, I am biased and I am opinionated. I wanted America to win. But Honestly, we all know that Rhys did deserve to win. He dialed in his car and adapted to the track very quickly.

Topics Jr. You ran awesome man. You are my hero for kicking some major *Censored**Censored**Censored* out there. You got balls my friend.

Awesome job, Chris. I really wish I could have been there in person to see you run with Tanaka and Taniguchi. Oh well, I'll have to settle for the video...

You make us all proud man.

Yes all the US D1 drivers are getting MUCH better!! Good job guys and I doubt Tsuchiya was doing the one more time to get the FD to win... after all he was the one trying to get more Domestic built cars to start being in D1. I actually heard that people were saying one more time because Rhys looked like he was going to lose.... (walked away during that time)
