  • drifting without Japanese cars...

Imagine for some reason you weren't really to get any Japanese cars (and for the Hawaiian folk, Camaros were outlawed), but that you could get all of the rest of the world's manufacturers - MG, Vaux Haul, Renault, Opel, etc. What would you use to drift?

Of course, with fewer companies to compete with, the price of the available manufacturers' cars would go down greatly. Your budget wouldn't be unlimited, but you could afford more than you can now.

I think I'd use an Opel Speedster

If not that, then perhaps an MG SV, Holden Commodore, Opel Calibra DTM version, or Lincoln LS (if that were available).

    Anyone else?

I'd get a Caprice based Impala SS, modify to manual tranny, and go to town...

I guess I wouldn't really care because if there's Vaux hall, then there's opel, and if there's opel, than there's the Chevette.
So, I guess not much will have changed for me...
except maybe there would be more aftermarket...
      hmmm....
I'd be able to get those bilstiens and kybs alot cheaper....

You could also have the Vaux Haul Chevette HF - famed high-power rally model.

BTW - post some pics of that vette drifting!

Volvo...the only way to fly my friend, the only way. You will all one day bow down to the power of VRD & VRDjr.

id get a marcos mantaray, its a small car company but it has like 400 hp and rwd and looks like a mix between a bmw z3 and dodge viper, and plus my name is marcos so it would be cool.

i'd also do the 95-96 Impala SS. theres a guy who swapped in a t56 6-speed (for those of you who dont know thats the tranny found in c5 corvette and dodge viper) and is running something like 760rwhp and roadraces the hell out of that thing.

that'd be even more gangsta than nomuken's car

IIRC, the Peugot 206 is FWD...

The Marcos Mantaray is awesome!!! There's a racing series somewhere in Europe that cars like the Mantaray, Lister Storm, Speed 12, Viper, and such.

BTW - I'd buy one of each TVR. I'd think that the Tamora would make an excellent drifter; it's light, it's nimble, it's got 350hp, it's equipped with double wishbone suspension. Imagine the impossibility of drifting a Speed 12 -- 1700lbs and 800hp to the rears...insanity!
