If it wasn't for Americans D1 wouldn't be as huge!
Support FD it's where the heart is and teh fun, FD keeps it fun and professional.

Actually, Ueo isnt competing because he isnt allowed to. He drove his D1 car in a non-D1 event. So, they took away his D1 licence.

Ueo isn't competing because of politics.

No offense to Ueo or D1... but since when did D1 own the cars? Does yanking someone's liscense because they drove their OWN PERSONAL (or, their team's) car at an event they wanted to sound bogus to anyone else?

I know Gush wasn't allowed to drive his personal car at D1 because the mustang "wasn't ready" (rumor) due to his contract with his sponsors. But his contract with his sponsors is completely independant of his status as a driver in D1, Formula D, or any other series. If an indy car driver wants to drive their Indy car at a non-CART / IRL sanctioned event, IRL / CART should not be able to yank their liscense.

in case anybody wants to know, the Ueo controversy was brought up in press conference on saturday. Keiichi said Ueo will be driving this season as usual.
oh yeah, he also regularly drives in BM events.
False stories need to stop being spread.
just like the whole Komatsu story.

Where the heck is this info comming from? Seriously..I've been hearing this "Ueo got banned" thing for a while but no one really says where it was founded...during the media day I was one of two people who actually asked questions..the other guy only asked one and I asked 3..

And since this Ueo thing has been mentioned so much I actually asked Keiichi himself about this very matter..and as he explained (through Toshi's translation)..he neither retired nor was banned..he just didn't come out to the US this time.

Now the way you guys are talking about the whole D1 organization..you all are making it out to seem that they are liars that only care about their personal gain..which is probably true to some extent

However..if they did infact ban Ueo..what possible reason would they have to lie about it? I dont think they would gain/loose anything from admitting that Ueo was banned..its true Ueo was a favorite but I wouldn't say he was "The" favorite

Honestly..how many of you whom were there were like "ok this whole thing totally sucks and isn't crap because Ueo isn't here!"?

Anyway back to my original point..where did this whole "Ueo got banned" thing come from?

i dont know about all of you, but i did see the complete skill difference between the americans and the japanese. the japanese are still better than us.Anyone who disagrees here did not clearly pay attention to D1. I think OVERALL, the judging was fine except to the part in the finals. thier should be a rule for taking a shorter line on the 2nd sweep corner. this is why imamura gave up. i had thought, you lose points for taking a shorter line thus making it impossible for the guy behind to overtake. but i was wrong.

Yes I agree w/ you we still have a long way to go... I mean come on the score the Americans had to get was a 98 to atleast qualify... and not all the Japanese made it into the qualifications because they couldn't hit that 98 pt mark.... People are always going to say "this is rigged, they're biased, etc, etc." I used to run/attend martial arts tournaments where people said that constantly. People will never be happy if they don't see their favorite competitor win.

The Americans have the FD to look forward too.
In a whole I think the D1 is trying to protect its interest and there is nothing really wrong with that.
They gave out some new licenses to some Americans this week and that's cool.
I give them props for bringing the show here and exposing the best drivers in the world.
Event's and leagues are always controversial.
                        Look at Baseball, Basketball ECT..
I think they should of let jr have his moment today though, he spent alot of time and prepping for this and to get to the top 30 this week. To to get cut shot down was kind of weaksause. I mean, just give the guy 3 more minutes..let him prove himelf.
Actually, D1 is trying to branch out and become international... The only thing he is doing by doing this is playing with his ego...

Japanese drivers can drive, no doubt. But at GT Live, I could have sworn that Rhys Millen beat Imamura. At this event Kazama (who is sponsered by Kei Office - Keiichi's company), beat Rhys after a "one more time" sudden death run. This is history repeating itself. This shows that Rhys got screwed out of his oppertunity into the finals...

If they're going to branch out internationally, they have to judge objectively and give more oppertunities to the locals. I know for a fact that alot of these American drivers know Irwindale's deformed potato track than most of these Japanese drivers do...

Anyways... that's my 2 cents even though it's not worth anything.

I didnt goto the event, so I dont know exactly how "bad" it was, but I think you guys are giving it too much of a bad rap. Any competition will have "politics" when they are judged like this. Its impossible to prevent since everyone will have a different perception of what happened compared to the judges. I'm sure even the drivers have different ideas of who should have won what, etc, etc. What is comes down to is that we have no idea what the judges saw and we have no idea what they were thinking about or focusing on. You just gotta suck it up and accept their judgement. If you cant handle the idea of them deciding on a winner, you got 2 options. Either dont participate and boycott or whatever, or dont focus on who wins and instead just enjoy some drifting. I go for the second choice. Even if I was somehow able to compete in an event like that, and I feel like I got robbed by politics, I would still accept it. Thats life.

haha ya know some say screw politics, and it can or does get annoying, but the politics is also intertaing just like the drifting (not as much) , or at least keeps you involved with the sport and spreds the word of d1 and fd.

                            support your American drifters!
