if anyone is going to buy the inital D set from the local comic store or whoever has it...buy the japanese version with subtitles. because your going to view the american version that way anyways so it saves you a bit of money this way... its what i did. oh and dont forget about the extra stage.Comment

Again, there is no JAPANESE version with subtitles. it is the pirated Hong Kong version that has the subs. It has a fancy box and you can buy it at what should be legit shops but it is what it is. If you're going to steal it then just download it. Don't support the pirates and sellers that profit from pirated goods.

It is costing me 25 cdn to buy it....they r not renting em out at my location.
Can i have some info?
Ie dubbed or not, 3 stages or 3 episodes
If each disk has 3 episodes it is a total rippoff.Comment

The Tokyopoop version is reasonably priced but is a piece of junk product. You will not be getting the real story as Tokyopoop deemed Mogi's supportive dating as too hot for tv. But yes, 3 episodes per disc. It contains the Japanese audio version with the tokypoop subs as well as the unbearable "tricked out" version where they talk like teenage mutant nija turtles and the sounds and soundtrack have all been cheezified.
Oh, and to save you some hassles you might want to amend your sig file. BBS wheels come standard on FC verts so it's not a mod unless you bought a different set and listing your "dressup" items is likely to get you tossed into the flames. Just a word of friendly advice from one FC owner to another.

Thank you all for posting I've learned a lot.
I would like to say I watched the Tokyopop version classic with subtitles and it was awesome I thought it wasnt changeed at all.
Then I watched the Tricked out version and it sucked. The music was different and it sounded like all the people were talking ebonics or something. "thats a pimp ride dawg lets go get natalie (mogi)" It was so retarded I turned it off. And the movie was dulled down with explainations like "my dads car it a FR you know front wheel drive"Comment

Yes, it was changed. You may or may not be aware (depending on if you've seen the Japanese version or read the manga) that Mogi is a bit of a whore. Aside from messing around with the guy that Takumi decked in the locker room she is going out with the man in a Benz for money. It's referred to as "supportive dating". It's not prostitution since technically they are dating. But hey, it is what it is. Since Tokyopoop doesn’t want this sort of thing going on in the story they are kinda glossing over this. From what I can tell they are just going to do their best to pass this off as a case of an older man dating a younger girl. Already in scenes where in the original Mogi indicates the man has seen her nude Tokyopoop changed it to read like the man had seen her in a bathing suit. It might seem like a minor change but this is stuff that is already happening in the first few episodes that is integral to explaining why Takumi later becomes so pissed when he finds out about her. Let’s face it, he doesn’t blow the motor in the AE86 because he finds out she has an older boyfriend. He gets steamed when he finds out she’s meeting up with a guy to get paid to lay on her back.

Thanks for the info I thought that guy in the car was her dad. Man now I want the real version, and the locker room seen was like a flashback in the tokyopop version it was out of now where. That expalins when mogi said "you are always horny" to the boyfreind what I thought was her father. I thought thats was really weird to say that to you dad.
