I've drifted go-karts for like 3 years, but it's at the theme parka dn I've already gotten ban from one of the tracks.

There are a lot of guys at the Bondurant Shifter kart school that do tandem shifter drifting. It ain't through 1 or 2 turns. They drift the entire track.

Yeah somebody get that hsc supercharger. Then you can say you have a V12 in your go kart. Raises hp by 50%. Theres only 5 to begin with.

heh yeah a friend of mine wrecked his bike 10 days after he got it, so were putting it on a go cart frame.

zx12R shifter cart anyone? more HP than my car, 6sp sequential, tops out at around 200 mph. i think we could get it sideways.

Safe?

I think Dromo 1 is VERY safe!

They supply a Sparco suit (pit crew type-also made for indoor karting), neck brace, full face helmet and gloves. The karts have 270cc Honda motors and get up to 25 or 30 MPH. They have centrifugal clutches and are easy to drive but between the proximity to the ground, the indoor environment and the car response, the sensation of speed totally rocks! I especially love the front straight and the big right sweeping turn 1. You can get a nice long drift going through there.

Give it a try! And no, I don't work there...I just spend too much money there!

About a year ago, there was an in-door go kart place near my house. the track was an a very slippery waxed concrete!

I never drifted a cart because I wanted to beat the top time, but my friend drifted his cart a lot.

Surprisingly, there was this little petite teenage girl who was a regular, and she drifted all the corners. When she didn't drift she got good times, and I think her dad was trying to get her into pros. I hope she made it!

only cool go karts are the special karts with racing transmission(pattaya) and the big off road dune buggy(also in pattaya)...its only fun for the first 5 times

Okay ladies here's the scoop, I race a fully modified 125cc shifter kart in the skusa pro series, the top karting organisation in America, heres the lowdown

Power: Mine makes 42.5 hp at the crank have the dyno sheets

Weight: 385lbs with driver

Chassis: CRG Rebel SE with custom Tillet Seat

Transmission: Full Six Speed sequential

Datalogging: Mychron 3 Gold...it tells me lap times revs, 3 temps, it also draws a track map when I hook it up to my laptop, it tells me how many g's I have pulled and many other things.

Most G's ever pulled: 2.6g's going 90 mph round a fast sweeper

0-60: 3.2 secs, checked it with a g-tech so give or take a couple of tenths

Top Speed: I gear it different for different tracks, right now about 100mph gets there in seven seconds, but the most I can wring out of it or gear it for is about 120-130mph

Rollcage??: Nah no protection from the elements, no seatbelt either just a suit and helmet. racing shoes etc...would you want to be attached to that thing when it flips over?
Cost: Very expensive but very worth it.

Anyway to answer the question on drifting a go-kart, as you can see my full race spec one will pull almost 3 g's of grip when it is setup for that, but as with any vehicle you can tweak these things, to drift it all I have to do is stiffen up the chassis as much as possible in the rear, and about medium stiff in the front, put an extra 10-15lbs of air in the rear tires, they are super sticky so hard to break loose anyway, you might even want to consider going to a harder compound , Then I basically have to just go out floor it to about 60-70mph then just pitch it in using the scandinavian flick, that gets it sideways. The problem is holding the drift, you see they have a solid rear axle so you basically have to blanace the kart on the front two wheels and one of the rears depending which direction you are going. I am probably gonna take my kart out to the next drift event in Houston where i live. We were going to take it to the one a few weeks ago but Tires are about $300 a set and you burn them up real quick, so just had to wait until I had a spare used set to run.
Anyway guys hope that answers your question. If there is anybody from H-Town on this forum then I guess I will see you at the next drift event. My team are also entering the D1 when it comes to Reliant our car gets here next week, S15 silvia with RB25 motor and full japanese conversion on the body.
