Team Toyo™ Drift’s Tanner Foust Wins Round 2 of Formula D Championship
CYPRESS, CALIFORNIA -- Team Toyo™ Drift’s Tanner Foust captured an overall victory during Round 2 of the Need For Speed Formula D Drift Championship this past weekend in Atlanta, Georgia. Foust piloted his yellow-and-black 450-horsepower AEM/Memphis Car Audio Nissan 350Z to the front of the field of world class competitors while driving on Proxes T1R™ tires from Toyo Tires®.
With this past weekend’s victory Foust has become the second Team Toyo™ Drift driver to win a Need For Speed Formula D Drift Championship round, joining Toyo’s own Ken Gushi for those honors. Foust’s sudden rise to a championship round win is no fluke, as he is a seasoned precision driver for movies such as The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. During the filming of that movie, which will soon appear in theaters, Foust spent three months driving a black Nissan 350Z, stunt-doubling for the movie character “D.K.”. According to Stan Chen, Manager of Events and Motorsports, Toyo Tire (U.S.A.) Corporation, “After spending so much time with the twin turbo Z movie car, transitioning into the AEM/Memphis Car Audio 350Z was pretty straight forward. It used the same Proxes T1R tires, same turbo kit, and other components similar to the actual movie car. This early victory is a great start for Toyo Tires in the Formula D championship.”
