  • (LIVE UPDATE) FORMULA D (CHICAGO)

Not quite live... but we've got 2 photogs there, so we'll give you some updates as we get them.

Course setup - it is a reverse of the course from last year, so there won't be many huge wrecks as there is a lot of runoff on the first turn. But leave it to Gushi to find someplace to mark up the fresh paint job (he tapped the wall, but damage is not bad).

New cars - none!! No Charger, no Solstice, nothin was ready for the event There are, however, pictures of the Charger from the press event last Sunday on the site

Realtime is there, Hiromi is there, all of the usual suspects are there!! let's get ready to rumble

papa gushi hit the wall during qualifying, he's ok, car looks not so hot... gonna check on it.

Rod Millen is not there this weekend, that makes 2 events in a row that he has missed after his top16 in LB. i'd anticipate him to be in Sonoma...

seeded drivers are practicing, going to get results from unseeded qualifying right now...

Ok Formula D has entered the 21st century...

The guys that are making it to tomorrow's main qualifying with the seeded 16 drivers will be:

      1. Rich Rutherford = 87.67
      2. Lance Kirianoff = 86.33
      3. Tyler McQuarrie = 85
      4. Ryan Hampton = 84.67
      5. Stephan Verdier = 84.33
      6. Hiromi Kajikuma = 84
      7. Al Lagura = 83.67
      8. Tony Angelo = 83.67
      9. Ryan Tuerck = 83
      10. Tony Shultz = 82
      11. Michael Peters = 80.67
      12. Stephan Papadakis = 79.67
      13. John Yim = 75
      14. Rob Fleming = 72
      15. Pierre Kleinubing = 71.67

Unfortunately, the rest of the field either did not finish a full run or spun twice in their 2 qualifying runs.

I'll try to stay online and post more tomorrow.

Weather is cold and windy. Tomorrow looks decent, on and off light showers, but weather forecast keeps changing so lets hope for the best!

I thought drivers that made the top 16 in the previous round were allready prequalified, why did Hiromi have to qualify again?

It will be a crazy day today. Feel extra disappionted because I don't get to play in the rain. YES, IT'S POURING OUT THERE AS OF NOW. We are just getting ready to head out to the track to Soldier Field and the weather is told to be rainy all day. Should have some surprising results.

                          WEATHER REPORT

Rained hard all night and morning. No rain now and partly cloudy skies. Only 30% chance of rain till 4pm then just cloudy the rest of the evening. Radar map looks fine. Track is drying up and we are still on!!

In regards to the 15 I listed from yesterday, they basically qualified to be in today's qualifying. So those 15 along with 16 seeded drivers will qualify at 1pm for the Top 16.

                          More to come...
