this book is for all those fast and furious tokyo drift geeks who no nothing about drifting cept that the tires are slicker, the cars are lighter blah blah blah

From the titles of the sections and chapters of the book it seems like it might actually be pretty informative.

Just because its in a book doesn't mean that it can't be beneficial.

If you ask any experienced road racer they'll tell you that Skip Barber's "Going Faster" book is one of the best books any racer can read.

Everyone here probably thinks they're the best drifter on the planet (I know I do ) but sometimes there are actually things that you can LEARN from a book which can be put into actual practice.

So I don't want to bash the fact that there is a book about drifting..I just wanna know who the guy that wrote it is..because he doesn't sound familar at all within the drift scene.

But if he turns out to be some road racer god that I've never heard of then it makes at least a little more sense. Or like stated earlier..if he was simply the writer but had consultation from some pro-drifters.

I guess I'll just have to google this dude.

Yeah, who is that guy anyway?

How's it going everybody? I just noticed the post on the book and that everyone was wondering who in the heck the editor was, so I figured I would chime in. Well, it was me. Yes, I was one of the editors of the first Drifting Magazine, along with Ed Loh who is now the editor of Sport Compact Car (Craig Taguchi is the editor of Drifting Magazine now and doing an exceptional job in my opinion). I have been in publishing for over 12 years and the last 5 before I wrote this book I was the editor of Import Racer! Magazine (now Import Performance). I caught onto drifting as some of the first organized events started to hit the States and was fortunate enough to have not only attended many of the now historic drifting competitions held here, but I was on the track photographing them--that was better than a front row seat! Where motorsports are concerned, drifting is it for me. I never really got into drag or road course racing, but I truly love drifting--watching it, photographing it and even doing it.

The more I got into drifting, the more research I would do and what I noticed, at least for most of the drifting how-to info available out there, was that it's all over the map. There really seemed to be no consistency to it, and I really didn't feel it was complete. So when Cartech approached me about writing a book on the subject I felt it was a chance to bring all the information together in one place and make it clear and consistent.

The book is written from a car control point of view. That is, I used road racing terms and techniques to explain the elements of car control and driving techniques necessary to make drifting possible. One of my main goals was to give drifting a terminology parallel to that of racing, so that we could all be on the same page when talking about, learning how to and expanding on drifting, as well as have an additional body of information to draw from. It took me over a year to get it done, but I am happy with the finished product--I hope all of you will be too.

The book is filled with info as well as hundreds of drifting images from various events, detailed diagrams, and I even showed how to build a budget drift car. Check it out, and let me know what you think.
