think out of the box guys, the Japanese created the sport of drifting, but now it's world wide, and if things get crazier, there maybe world competitions one day. Think about. That GTO is a nice platform. The only thing I would worry about is chassis stability. Can't wait to see how they do.

You guys know this is the first fully backed American team right? Time to show the Japanese that the good ol boys from America can slide right too.

      Rhys Millen

We here at Jasper Performance wish Rhys the best of luck in the upcoming D1 competition and thank him for his awesome efforts in the last competitions where he placed in the top 16 in the first ever U.S. D1 competition last year and his 1st place win in the Falken Drift Showoff in October 2003. We will continue our great professional relationship with Rhys and RMR through the rise of this ever growing popular motorsport. Good luck to all the competitors in February!

We'll find out Feb. 28th if the GTO is worthy. I, myself, will always be a fan of the ALL JAPAN PROFESSIONAL DRIFT.

this being pure isnt a bad thing, but for the sport to rise to another level, internationally it needs to improve. imagine if soccer stayed in europe and not go out to countries like brazil and imagine if adidas was the only company to produce soccer products. if drifting was only japanese then wtf would we americans be doing trying to compete against them?

I think that the american scene should consist of low key events and a tight nit group of underground drifters. man idk i dont want drifting to explode like this. to many people are all hyped up about it but they have no clue about the roots, the real drifters in japan, and japanese tuning and culture. idk i am kinda pissed about all the hype up here. keep it real.
Well I dont think it's underground in Japan either. and I dont think all Japanese drifters are good. Just like US, there are japanese newbies. So I dont think Japanese got it better than we do.
american cars are not supposed to be in driffting.
well how about UK's, Norwegians? are they not suppose to drift neither? anyways, im not trying to flame anyone. I just think that everyone got the choice to learn how to drift, regarless if they're japanese or not.

Well the only thing I affraid of is when DRIFTING explodes in the US, they'll take it as a threat vs. a new motorsport. I mean Import Drag racing was not accepted (or frown upon) in the track, until someone got an idea to make a league out of it. Then everyone got into the band wagon. Also, I dont know about you, but there's alot of stupid people out there that tries things and do not consider the repucautions of their actions. And all they can say to the cops are: "We're just having fun" or "I didn't know someone was there". That's stupid. Take responsibility of your own actions.

I think his GTO is going to be *Censored**Censored**Censored**Censored*ing crazy! Just look at GM when they back a racer up in a racing event. In the first season GM became pretty much the top dog in FWD drag racing. O_o On its first time out GM took the top speed record for a certian class that Honda had set the record for. Just imagine what that cars gonna be like when GM builds it for drifting. The GTO is pretty much a slightly watered down vette. O_o Especially with GM backing him it'll easily make that supra look like crap.

I hope that with a domestic taking one of hte upper ranks of the drifting world it'll help me get some sponsors.

                  wow....

                  i think it's absolutely cool!

This will legitamize it, atleast somewhat.

I think people are too caught up in the JDM thing.

I'd like to see a more variety of cars. Seeing the 1000th beat up 240sx or ae86 drifting at some cone course in a parking lot gets really boring real fast.

As a spectator, I like to see flashy cars and smoking tires. I also like to see great showmanship and not just an one arm outside the car.

The more variety of cars the more people will be able to identify with a team, which will be great.

That's like saying baseball should stay in America, when its one of Japan's favorite pastimes/biggest sport.

What the hell? I think it's a great idea for domestics to compete in the same class as any other car. Just pushes me to get out thier and show em what I got. I hope to be as good as millen one day.

My inlaws are planning to get a GTO. My father-in-law only cares about going fast in a straight line. I can't wait to show him this.
