The LS6 swap is not a surprise considering it may find it's way into the GTO (rumor). What I'm wondering is is the engine gonna be set back. I'm hoping that they actually use the GTO chassis wtih a factory engine setbackand not come out with some tube-frame creation that doesn't pertain to the real world (aka nascar). Keep it so that the street gto's can make drifters without the firewall mods associated with setback. I have said it once and I'll say it again they should use the Z06 but I'm happy they're using the GTO.

And I want to thank Jasper for both this sponsorship and their involvement with the ATPA. I'm a huge tractor pulling fan and Jasper has brought that sport to a whole new level and hopefully they'll do the same with the domestic drifters. I dunno what kinda connections you have with Jasper but I would love to see Rhys and his GTO at Henry Illinois this year. Thanks guys!!

Lets not bash the car. Sure it is not as performance based as the other cars, and i belive that will show, but dont make fun of it. ITs not my bag, but i mean, any opf you would take a factory sponsership if it was offered to you. Oh and a reply to that tube frame drift car comment. D1 is supposed to be the ultimate STREET car show. Anything past what is already there is to much. Lets keep it where it is. Im afraid all this new stuff will wreck the sport.

Maybe someone can verify this for me, but I'm pretty sure a tube frame creation like that wouldn't be allowed by the Formula Drift or D1 rules. The concept photo of the car looks like an evolution of the factory model just like the other competitors so I don't think there's anything to worry about.

I for one, am glad that US companies are getting into a sport thats sending a LOT of hard earned bucks over seas.

Most people here wont understand and are into the 'JDM is God' way of thinking.

Those that cant feel me ......will, when they get older.

I wish them (USDM) the best of luck venturing into this sport

Maybe they can get a few styling cues from the Japanese cars and make me buy a newer American car soon(I like teh old ones )

Thanks driftgirl. A lot of people don't understand why domestic guys like their cars. It goes beyond you machine and into your heart because you are proud of your country and what they've made. I'm proud to drive my TBIRD and always will be. It ain't a question of company loyalty for me, it's whether or not I'm proud to be an American. And yeah I"m sick of the "US cars are crap" thing. We build the Z06........it owns the GTR, M3 and the 911 Carrerra in every performance category and is the quickest, best handling car anybody can buy for less than 50k. We build the Ford GT. .....fit and finished as well as anything from Italy and beats the 360 Modena. And not to mention the C5R that takes on Ferraris Maranello in ALMS and has brought home the GTS title 2 years straight. America ain't afraid of the GTR, or Toyota in Nascar. Bring 'em on!!!!!!!!

Speaking of the GT-R anyone see this years ultimate street car challange from sport compact car? that Skyline was so far ahead it wasnt even funny. Too bad it broke down.

oh yeah.. and not to turn this into a political debate. But i used to be proud of my country too. Everyday that goes by i become more and more dissilusioned by it. perhaps it will get better again.

                          6 PAGES OF ABSOLUTE NONSENSE!!!!

I'm sooo close to being over this board.

I swear to god, I tried to go through every post.

But for every decent thought/post, there were like 5-15 of either utterly retarded opinions, or people sucking off Rhys Millen.

                          What a bunch of crap.

Of course Rhys got the sposorship, he's Rhys F #@ k i n g Millen!!! His dad's Rod Millen, he drives cars on commercials, and rally's from time to time. No big shock there.

If I would've called Pontiac they would've went "Huh, what do you want to do , with what car? Who are you again??" And laughed in my face after the hung up the phone.

For the record, I had the idea last year when the reports were released that it was going to production (GTO). (Chas you may have been in the shop one of those days I was talking about it)

For all the morons who want to "keep it underground" pull your heads out of a$$es and realize that this is a motorsport, not a secret society. There's money to be made, and some of us want to make behind the wheel.

For the other morons that think an american car/GTO/etc. etc. can't compete, when are you going to go out and REALLY drive; and realize you can drift anything with finesse and style, it just takes practice and set up. Which is easy to get when you're geting paid to do it well.

If this offended anyone, good it was probably aimed at you. Those that know me, and know what I'm about, probably agree.

So if you want to, flame-on, I know what the f #@k I'm talking about. I don't have to live vicariously through a message board to be a drifter, I f#@ k i n g am one. Flame that you bunch of dorks

Yeah, my buddy gave me the idea after we found out about the Austrailian V-8 cars, those are sweet. The ford falcoln, the holden monero(now the pontiac GTO). He is totally into these, I like em too 300+hp V-8 with 6 speeds RWD. Sweet cars. These are really competative cars, I bet it already has an aftermarket being that it was originally produced in Australia and I'm sure someone wanted to mod it.

Holy doody! The mods are doing their jobs really good now... a little too good. [Please don't smite me!] We had better watch ourselves now.

Notice: "G-rated" language. I'll do my best to appease the mods.
