        Sideways_InSD,

FIRST, your account was deleted because you were cussing and being offensive. Now you immediately returned and have the word F#$#ing in your signature?

SECOND, you did not need to be warned because you indicated in the post, which
got you deleted, that you knew that it was offensive.

THIRD, although there has been much worse on the forum, that does not mean we must
keep this benchmark and make no effort to improve the forum. Our current level of moderation is taking considerable time and we do not need to warn those who make intentional mistakes.

FORTH, you can respond to those who are posting inaccurate information with facts. There is not need to insult; this was mention in the FAQ sheet.

FIFTH, where was I last year? I do not understand why this question is being asked because this has no effect on your cancellation of your account.

LAST, you SIG was edited to remove that word.

It shouldn't bear the GTO badge then. The GTO is remembered for its muscle not its luxury. I strongly disagree with you I think Pontiac is retarded and this car just proves what I see.

D1 cars have to be street legal. I don't think a full tubular chassis is street legal.

It ain't a question of company loyalty for me, it's whether or not I'm proud to be an American. And yeah I"m sick of the "US cars are crap" thing. We build the Z06........it owns the GTR, M3 and the 911 Carrerra in every performance category and is the quickest, best handling car anybody can buy for less than 50k. We build the Ford GT. .....fit and finished as well as anything from Italy and beats the 360 Modena. And not to mention the C5R that takes on Ferraris Maranello in ALMS and has brought home the GTS title 2 years straight. America ain't afraid of the GTR, or Toyota in Nascar. Bring 'em on!!!!!!!!
But what is bullsh1t about our great U.S. car manufacturers is company outsourcing. There are more American made parts on a Toyota than there is on a GM car now-a-days, and that isn't sarcasm it is the truth.

It DOES have muscle. It kicks the crap out of comparable sport coupes in acceleration and makes ALOT more low end power than an EVO or STi (a muscle car staple) but it's not a frick'n street legal rally car and I'm sick of it being compared to one. WTF did you expect Pontiac to call their new sport coupe?

Christ, when I go onto to GM boards I have to defend import performance cars like the EVO AGAINST the GTO fans. Why can't people just appreciate all performance cars instead of taking camps.

My critizems wasnt that it didnt have more low end power. It was that it couldnt out run a STI or WRX, though i supose if it was very hot the two turbo cars performance would suffer.

Anyways i heard there was a supercharged or a higher power version comming out. That changes things abit.

My real problem with its performance wasnt that it was bad. but it was very bad for its cost.

Besides you can respect a performance car you dont paticularly like. Anyways i try to. Even if sometimes my mouth goes off before i think it out.

                    From www.D1GP.com home page:
02.03.04 News flash! Here comes the 'Judge’
Veteran rally driver and tuner Rhys Millen announced Tuesday that he'll be driving a 2004 Pontiac GTO in the D1 Grand Prix. The General Motors rear-driver, a joint project by Pontiac and Rhys Millen Racing, will be motivated by a 5.7-liter LS1 V-8 tweaked to the tune of 400 horsepower. Drift-spec suspension pieces will work to keep meaty Yokohama AVS tires (225/40R-18 front and 265/R35-18 rear) firmly planted on Irwindale Speedway's track for the Feb. 28 showdown between Japanese and American talent. Stay tuned!

So, this is not actually the LS6 based "Judge" version of the GTO which may be coming out in a year or two but this is just a tuned LS1.

Also interesting that there are currently zero euro cars entered in the D1. So, this is the only car that is not a Mazda, Nissan or Toyota.

where did you find the tubed part. If his car has a tubed chassis I know a few people that will call foul on it. Be sad to see them build a car and not be able to enter it. And yes ALL D1 cars need to be regestered Street legal.

The LS6 is a tuned LS1 so I imagine it will be very similar in terms of performance.

                        • The LS6 is an LS1 with better heads, intake, and cam. I believe the exhaust manifolds and compression ratio are a little different on the LS6 as well. As for putting an LS1 in there as opposed to an LS6 GM has probably done this for a couple of reasons.

                          1. They may have some surplus LS1's laying around
                          2. This car may have different heads/intake/cam built specifically for the car.
                          3. It may be better marketing for GM to say that the engine is an LS1 because it would imply to the general public that the car has a factory engine.

                          • Yea I"m guessing they didnt just throw in a LS6 into the car. Though they probably stayed kinda close to how the LS6 is set up. I'm guessing his motor will be tuned a little more also to handle more stress and probably rev alot higher.

Looking at his HP number though...that means my next Camaro is gonna have more than his

                            • So how does the D1 define street legal? Street legal where? In Hawaii we have all types of restrictions that are not imposed on other states. Any modification (and I mean anything) has to get a reconstruction permit. If the part does not meet the requirements (which cover things like sound DB's for exhaust, ride height and spring rate for suspension, etc) then you dont get the permit, and technically your car is not street legal (yes you can get a ticket for not having recon). I'll tell you straight up that NONE of the current D1 cars would pass Hawaii recon inspections. On the other hand, Hawaii does not have any smog laws, so something that would be illegal in Cali is legal here. So if someone from Hawaii were to enter the D1, should they be worried about their car not passing recon, or should they be worried that it dosnt pass smog laws? Or maybe street legal means that the car has doors that actually open and close, or a stock safety restraint system? So many ways to define street legal, it sounds like a very grey area to me.

                              • Yea if I brought my car to the RECON station before I even park they'd point at the exit already haha...I think actually probably about all of the cars that drift would be considered illegal down here O_o Sadly thats the life that we hawaii people have to live.
