  • Formula D Pro-Am Kicks off in Houston

    For Immediate Release
    July 23, 2006

La Marque (Houston), TX – The Formula Drift Pro-Am Series kicked off its first event in Houston under the direction of Daily Drifter sponsored by SPL Parts and with the help of the Underground Lifestyles Car Show and Concert. Over 40 drivers attended the inaugural event that was held at Gulf Greyhound Park. Temperatures well into the nineties coupled with the Houston humidity made for an extremely hot day. The rain began to fall just as the competition started which threw off many drivers who had practiced all day on dry pavement. When the dust settled the top eight qualifiers were named and they will be invited to the Pro-Am finals:

    Qualification Round
    1. Jaime Gutierrez 1992 Nissan 240SX San Antonio, TX
    2. Gary Lang 1990 Nissan 240SX Albuquerque, NM
    3. Casey Quillen 1992 Nissan 240SX Houston, TX
    4. Jeremy Kelly 1990 Nissan 240SX Corpus Christi, TX
    5. Ameen Rizvi 1991 Nissan 240SX Sugarland, TX
    6. Aaron Losey 2005 Nissan 350Z San Antonio, TX
    8. (Tie) Brad Burnett 1990 Nissan 240SX Houston, TX
    8. (Tie) Ben Green 1996 Nissan 240SX Bellville, TX

    Final Standing
    1. Ameen Rizvi
    2. Aaron Losey
    3. Jaime Gutierrez
    4. Gary Lang
    5. Casey Quillen
    6. Jeremy Kelly
    8. (Tie) Brad Burnett
    8. (Tie) Ben Green

These drivers will go on to compete against the other regional top 8 drivers for the title of national Formula Drift Pro-Am Champion. For more information regarding the Pro-Am Series log on to: www.proamdrift.com, www.formulad.com, www.dailydrifter.com

the top 8 and later rounds went tandem. There were some pretty heated and controversial battles. If you were there, you know which one in particular I am talking about It was an awesome weekend
