uh oh, here comes the controversy...
guess i better defend myself eh? ok here goes-
gxl's with the v8 swap only gain about 150lbs. the turboII actually loses a few pounds with the conversion (go figure). as far as weight distribution goes, it barely moves. an extra 150lbs over the front axle isnt so bad. eg-
the stock rx7 has a near equal weight distribution (close enough to 50:50), and with driver is actually slightly back heavy.
gxl weighs 2700lbs dry right? (something liek that) so thats 1350 per end. stick that additional 150 over the front and we have 1500:1350. that translates to 52.6:47.4. still a better balance than the hachi or 240. add driver, and it moves slightly more towards that 50:50 mark- but not by much.
also, the v8 is mounted very low and sits up against the firewall.
o the point is- youd have a 2850lbs car with 300 hp stock. i cant complain.
btw- i plan on some pretty stiff coilovers (probably tein HE - 10kg front, 8kg rear) and a roll cage, so it should handle quite well.
o and for mister sparkle- i dont have anything against the rotary- its just too expensive. sorry buddy.
