There are like a handful of people in our industry that could afford to purchase the entire automotive group. I'm sure you guys know who I am thinking of

If an investment or equity firm do buy it they won't stick their noses in as far as the day to day operation. They will probably use the people that are already in place.

I think if like the industries top 3 distributors(they spend the most in ad revenue) stepped up and bought the automotive group they would have the perfect forum to sell their products, appease their suppliers, and gain leverage at the same time.

If that happened though, I'm sure their would be major concern that these magazines could become catalogs very quickly.

I bet if each person put in like 200 bucks you guys could buy the division yourselves!...ok maybe not..

But one does wonder how this could potentially change the industry.

My biggest fear is that some investment or equity firm is going to buy it out and totally have no idea how to run it.

We need a very very VERY rich automotive enthusiast to pick this up.

I wonder if Bill Gates is into cars...

Sitting on the toilet with a laptop isn't as much fun either.

Now at least the SEMA parties shouldn't be quiet the same. Super Street guys at the Modified party, and the like. I still would have liked to have seen the Dave Pankew vs John Naderi dance off that one year.

Personally, I see eliminating a couple books as not a bad business decision. It just sucks to say that when you have friends at a few of them.
