Fighters have crossed back and forth between UFC and Pride for a good decade, depending on where the check was and if they could be competitive at a given weight.

Pride still has Fedor, and Fedor is untouchable. As much as I love Randy Coulter I don't see UFC putting up a heavyweight good enough at this point.

Sorry to turn this into a MMA discussion but their are too many parallels. It is rumored that Fedor is leaving Pride for Bodog, feels like Taniguchi leaving D1. I'm sure many of the top Japanese fighters will leave Pride for K-1 Hero's as well.

I think the opposite. For the top fighters they will probably make better money but for the fans we will be left with maybe 2 good fights a PPV and the rest of the fights TUF amateurs laying and praying.

Pride = Shady Buisnes practices, Not paying the fighters the money they deserve,

Also with pride, theres other fight orginizations in japan that can easily take over there audience when there gone. No one can really replace D1 in japan or FD in america at this point....NOPI drift... not any time soon. Mabey in 3 years or so they will be a huge threat to FDs audience and sponsors.

So I dont think D1 will end up like Pride, mabey in 10 or 15 years.

I think D1 should have scrapped this years american series, and mabey form some sort of partnership with FD so theres not conflictiv dates, mabey even devloping some sort of overall american drifting championship, combining the points of both series to crown a overall american drift champion. Just Ideas though.

Then what the hell was it then, why did cro crop come to UFC? Too enjoy the Nevada heat? Oh yea, why did pride do business with the Yakuza then, why did pride loose there TV deal? You don't need to understand japanese to read and hear about prides ratings going down, and there crappy business practices.

I know there are similarities to D1 and Pride... but its not the same sport. The business is not ran the same way. D1 will survive this year, shitty US campaign or not, they will survive. Pride on the other hand... I don't know. UFC just might shut the whole thing down, which still wouldn't affect the face of MMA in japan. The fighters will still be there just fighting for diferent companies, if Ds club went under tomorrow... there isn't another drift series of its caliber in japan that could really take over. Theres no formula D JP for the drivers to go too, or that the fans migrate over too. Its done its overwith.... Well for this year at least.
