THE "FAD"... I know what ya mean I live in Indiana and thanks to all the magazine coverage of D1 and Import Tuners 86 coverage. All the little ricer civic kids want to get 240's and go drift. I can't say much about that though cause I upgraded my Honda for a RWD, but I did it for the sport, not the trend. I'm glad that they are showing the sport over here and in the mags but now every high school kid with APC drift stuff is going to think there car is magically going to do the perfect slide. This is going to give the sport a bad street rep in my opinion. It is only my opinion so who cares.

In a city of a quarter of a million too. Im sure theres a few dozen guys out there maybe. But thats about it. Most guys in bakersfield have what i refer to as the bakersfield special Civic sedan of some kind. green. chrome wheels, clear tail lights and a spoiler.
Very few RWD imports running around, And very few of them seem modified in any way visually.Last edited by gundamzeta; 02-17-2004, 12:34 PM.

Reading this post is scary! It is true that all this drifting coverage is making everyone want to slide around. Hell I remember the street races on the weekend. I can just imagine all those dumass kids trying to go sideways every weekend now. I am the only RWD driver out of all my friends. Whenever I go out I go and practice alone. Just the other day though, I was watching the drift bible and some of them came over. Before you know it these guys are all talking about trading in their VWs for 86s and 240s. I felt like kicking myself in the nuts. Maybe I'm a bit selfish, but I think everyone else here likes the fact that there aren't a lot of people doing this right now. This explosion isn't going to help anything. Maybe they should make another super trendy Fast and Furious type movie hyping up drag racing even more and more, so everyone will think that it's the ultimate thing to do and keep their FWD rides.

I'm noticing it too. Actually, it's been going on for a while. Magazines have been covering it a lot more and they too, are noticing the explosion in the market. It went from JDM-junkies to drifting. I guess they sorta do go hand in hand. It will die off, just have patience and don't stop drifting just because everyone else starts to, because just like other fads, this one will die off eventually. The sooner the better and it can get back down to the real fanatics.

Guys I am looking at a 160-200 page magazine that comes out here every month in Japan. I live in Japan. I moved here because I was a mechanic through college, I know good manufacturing when I see it. There is a whole issue dedicated to four doors. Soarers, chasers, Skylines, laurels, Sefuiro, and some women own these cars too. You guys act like drifitng happened last year. It is old, it used to be a joke that caught on. Go look for Ebisu Circuit on the web. I want a full report by tomorrow on what you learned.
Oh yeah I saw a white Levin with an old school TRD widebody kit today ouside The grocery store.
