I don't know about anyone else, but I was referring to the explosion on the U.S. scene. I know the Japanese movement has been going on for quite sometime. I will research though, just for my better knowledge.

Hoever this is a motor sport, and just like when we were in elementary we all played some sport. I played soccer. Then I was exposed to drums and live Death Metal bands. Went away from the pack and practiced, practiced, practiced. While my frinds were playing soccer games I was playing shows. Then they wanted to play also, but had no heart. When it comes to a skilled craft, you can see where the heart is. Those guys eventually quit playing and now just go to bars and drink beer everynight.
The moral of the story is don`t play soccer.
J/K.... When something comes along and everybody else does it for the wrong reasons, the strong are filtered from the weak. But the competion raises the bar and our expectations.

So if you find a guy with a great set up, but can`t drive worth a crap, go up to his car and say in a Samurai voice:

"Anata no Kuruma ( or insert name of vehicle) wa,
*your car (Hachi roku, silbiya, etc.),
      takara no mochigusare daiyo.
*is good and being wasted by you.
      Watashi ni kudadasai.
      *please give it to me.
      Nazenara watashi wa,
      *because I,
      sugoi ude o mottemasu!"
      *have great driving skill!

Out here, in Lancaster CA, drifting is starting to get alittle steam out here. I've seen a couple of S13 front ends, and alot more "option2" stickers on cars.

hmmm if these "ricers" wanna drift for the wrong reasons then theyd give up pretty easily so i dont think we should worry. once they realize how hard it is, how expensive it can get especially with the thread wear and once they crash their cars itll soon die down. theyll find smthing new and leave us all alone. only the people who has geniune love for this sport can stay faithful. juz like what ueno said, drifting is a lifestyle. you can only pose for so long then ull get sick of it.
