-- Successful Debut Keeps Team 4th in Overall Point Standings --
LOS ANGELES (June 22, 2007) – HKS USA, Inc., the premier manufacturer and supplier of automotive performance systems and parts, and the Rockstar/Nitto Drift Pacific Rim Drift Team debuted their new S15 Silvia drift car at Round 3 of Formula D’s 2007 season, held June 2, at Summit Point Motorsports Park in West Virginia. Behind the wheel of the Rockstar/Nitto Drift S15 was Pacific Rim ’s drifting ace, Daijiro Yoshihara. This was only Yoshihara’s third time in the driver’s seat of the S15 and his first actual competition event. Yoshihara piloted the S15 to a solid 7th place finish on a tough track he had never drifted before. The 7th place finish maintained Yoshihara and Rockstar/Nitto Drift team’s hold on 4th place in the overall points standings for the Formula D Championship, and only six points behind the 3rd place team.
“Daijiro is definitely one of the best drifters on the circuit right now. With his skills and experience guiding the performance of the all-new HKS-sponsored drift S15, our position to challenge for the championship is looking very good,” said Jerry Tsai, team owner, Pacific Rim.
The new Rockstar/Nitto Drift S15 was built from the ground-up by HKS. The Nissan SR20DET engine was completely re-engineered, with HKS’ 2.2l Stroker Kit, Step 3 Head System, and camshafts. The turbo system is centered around an HKS GT3037S Turbocharger with a GTII Wastegate and R-Type Intercooler rounding out the forced induction duties. The engine and turbo system were tuned via the HKS F-Con VPRO and EVC Boost Controller.
