I think it is great that minds are working to try out new ideas, especially one as skilled and experienced in the industry as Rhys', but i think this should have a place as a sister sport and not as a progression of what drifting is now. One of the most beautiful things about drifting, and i think many will agree, is that drifting is done with cars that are essentially street driven vehicles on steroids. The fact that people can walk up to the car and say, " wow i have the car that the top 2 competitors in Formula D have," is very important. The best thing about the sport is its done with everyday cars that kids can aspire to build. If you take that factor away from the sport, you will lose the majority of the interest that is here and being brought to the sport. I understand that many of these cars are $150,000 + cars, but the idea that people can directly relate their cars with some of the most competitive cars is a gem in the sport and can't be lost!

      Rather Interesting

All I have to say is kudos to anyone who wants to try something new. Every type of racing we have in this country is a hybrid of sorts, taking bits and pieces from it's predecessors in an attempt to provide a new venue of high octane thrills.

As far as stadium truck racing being dead, I must disagree. Though not your traditional Mickey Thompson Off Road Classic style, sanctioning bodies such as Championship Off Road Racing www.corr.com and World Series of Off Road Racing www.wsorr.com are live and pumping. Each of these have hit prime time, and the CORR event I attended in Pomona brought in right at 20,000 fans.

      Will it work? Who knows!

Should those that envision it give it their best shot? By all means.

I don't really get it, but I didn't really get Super Moto when it came out either. Now it's huge . . .

Drifting was invented by someone going out and trying something new, really that's all that Rhys is doing. I commend him for that. The dirt thing doesn't surprise me. Considering the fact that his father has been racing Trophy Trucks and Stadium trucks for decades, I can see how he would want to blend his passion with his roots.

I really would like to see another Stadium Off Road series, someone mentioned Mickey Thompson and I got a little nostalgic . . .

I can see the Financial backing wanting to give him freedoms to create something a little differant.
RedBull is huge in this sport, that sport, etc etc. they have cake to toss.
If they find Rhys' project is valuable for more than "Stadium Drift Trucking" they will use it outside in heavy competition.

          Hahaha

Anyhow, Rhys and Company have some of the most supportive sponsors in the business.

          It will be fun.

I'd like to see them get into MACK Truck Drifting, personally.

I personaly would like to see traditional rallycross make a comeback before this sport gets made.

i think fd is creating some great momentum now as a sport and there is no point in mucking it up trying to form another series. the expenses are to high anyways and there are not a bunch of $500k sponsors sitting around waiting to sponsor a drift team so what would make you think they would sponsor a drift truck.

it looks cool as a novelty but as a sport i think it is a waste of time. i think it is awesome that rhys can build bad *Censored**Censored**Censored* race vehicles but i do not see a future in that as a series.

Traditional Rallycross, while somewhat cool happens every saturday night. Head on out to your local dirt track. Different track layout but same end result. Dirty, dented, bashed up cars. Not many sponsors other than Jacks Liquor or Moe's Used Tire Superstore is gonna sponsor a car on a grassroots level that requires weekly massive sheetmetal repair as a rule of thumb. Not in America anyways. Never know though.

If people are willing to give Rhyss money to make projects like these, awesome. All it does is bring new innovations to other sports.

I think Traditional Rally Cross is much better for sponsors then traditional rally....

I'n rally they hold the races on some forest area with no real seating, while rally cross can be set up at a real venue...just look at the ex games. And instead of seeing one driver for 2 seconds at the little section of the course you set up your lawn chair you can sit in a grandstand and see all the drivers all together over and over and over...kinda like nascar.

Same thing for TV time, How much American rally do you see on TV? Not much if you have basic cable, and the rally shows we do have just briefly highlights all the drivers runs for a few moments. Thats just how I feel... Rally Cross with a real effort$$$ can be huge in the states IMO
