    Here is a new announcement.

    U.S. DRIFT RESETS ’04 SCHEDULE

RICHMOND, VA – Slated to hold nine pro events starting March 7th at California Speedway in Fontana, California, U.S. DRIFT, the first coast-to-coast drift series, has refined its plans.

“U.S. DRIFT, as a whole, is very participant-driven. The National series was designed to give exposure of our drift drivers to spectators and sponsors by taking advantage of the current spotlight that is on drifting in the United States”, said U.S. DRIFT Director Chris Cobetto. “The spotlight burns bright but it shines on what is still a fledgling motor sport in the U.S. At this moment in time sponsors are still unsure of drifting’s longevity and the number of skilled drivers remains limited. Our objectives have always been to develop drifters and to have fun. Accomplishing this meant creating a nationwide network of local U.S. DRIFT regions and allying with High Performance Driver training programs like the National Auto Sport Association and Bondurant.” U.S. Drift regions will run local events where drivers can learn how to drift and get seat time in a safe, controlled environment. With regions in Northern California, Virginia, Ohio, and Texas, more are being established in Florida, Indiana and Illinois.

“But”, Mr. Cobetto stated, “the fact that competition makes the world go around is not lost on us.” U.S. DRIFT will host National events; large contests where U.S. drivers can compete for large winner take all purses. With a new California date to be announced, an event in conjunction with the Hyper Fest outside Washington, D.C. on July 10th at Summit Point Raceway, and a championship round in Las Vegas after the SEMA Show, U.S. DRIFT remains dedicated to it’s tagline of being the organization for drivers from Average Joe to Pro. “Drifting in the U.S. has more promoters than there are U.S. drifters”, Said Mr. Cobetto. “Our new structure allows us to hold as many as 75 events in ‘04, while helping to establish drifting as a legitimate motor sport in the U.S. We are very excited about this evolution.”
