        Word is:

        A couple of crashes.

No one is still able to make smoke on that surface.

SSSUUUUPPPEEEERRRR dusty/slippery. Since the track has just been sitting since last year's Pro-Am (there were still remnants of Falken banners scattered near the track...), it's been covered by dust. I got to the track yesterday (thursday) around 5pm. Met with Naoki/Taka, US DRIFT and John/Alex (Daily-Drifter). i was there til after 1030pm, when i left Taka was STILL scrubbing/sweeping the surface.
Same course layout as last year. Jump is still at the beginning of the course.

Today was obviously still slippery. Slow initiation. Seemed as if most were taking a shallow line in fear of the dust taking them into the wall.
Saw one crash. (was only there until about 330pm PST). it was a white s13 (i believe it had maxxis and acci-dent.com stickers on it...). Not sure if that driver made it back out. RMJ car hit backed into the wall, not bad damage (didnt affect suspension/alignment settings). still drivable.
Drivers i noticed in the "pro" group: quoc (pink driftspeed s13), hampshaa (red s13), joon (evo), both battleground/maxxis cars, hiromi (pink hachi), verena mei (z33), james bondurant (jay's old s14). there were more drivers, cant remember right now. someone else will post it im sure.

last year was obviously faster, due to the fact that the asphalt was brand-spankin new. no time for the dust to settle.

I heard it was wet and slicked down with the tears from the dreams being shattered of the many hopefuls.

if there was an emo song for drifting, that would be the title and chorus

so no one has a blower that can blow the dust out on to the side? i hate tracks/parking lots where theres crappy surfaces and everybody is just hanging out bitching about it. brooms and *Censored**Censored**Censored**Censored* like that would take forever and not do much. get a blower and it will go much faster, unless its wet

p.s. i have only seen taka trying to make the track better. ever.

Gary Lang hit is rear right side REALLY hard. A couple other kids hit the wall but not bad. The track hadn't been driven on in a year. It was dusty and gross.

Track was slippery not just from dust, but from lack of rubber / use. The day was started with some parade laps where the drivers burned off some tires on the 'outside' line to help gain traction. It made a huge difference, as drivers were driving the 'man' line through practice and into qualifying.

Great turn out, some great driving especially during tandems! Top 3 were all VERY deserving!

Today was Austin's first time driving tandem, but it didn't look it! he rocked it!!

Tomorrow will be the top 16 from today + all the zero point drivers (people I've seen around: verena mei, justin pawlak, yoshie shuyama, Dan Pena, Gary Lang, Quoc Ly, Joon Maeng 'who has a point but is driving the evo for practice', James Bondurant, someone is driving Hiromi's car (i think it's Barry Wong), Dan Willie, Tracy, there's some others here but I can't think of them right now.

Time to eat some food and go check out the banquet (aka drink-a-thon!)

PS - Special thanks to Cooper Tires and Falken Tires for changing tires for the drivers all day!
