the stock alloys are fine and i'm guessin your car is stock, or at least close to it.....all weather tires are the best, probaly bf goodrich or bridgestone....something cheap, i've seen the bridgestone potenzas run fairly cheap for performance tires, i mean like 60 bucks kinda cheap...but u gotta search around....remember rims and tires are probaly the second most important decision you'll make while drifting....next to suspension and such....

I agree with Oki Drifter's sig line "how is NASCAR and the F1 GP fun when there is WRC and the D1 GP!?" I've said the same thing at work but not so many people understand!

Anyway, I'm going through tires pretty fast so I think I might try the good tires on the front and whatever on the back approach OKi Drifter mentions. I don't know where to get those Advan Neova ADO7 in Texas though!

Yokohama ES100 - very good tire, sticky with a stiff sidewall. Not hard on the wallet either.

Seems alot of people are recommending factory wheels, or cheap alloy alternatives. I duno about you guys, but if the wallet will allow it, I would go for a nice set of wheels. remember its nice to go sideways, but drifting is about looking good while doing it too!

Word on the street is EVERYTHING sucks....usually starts off with: "Oh. I know this one guy , blah blah blah...." funy how itws never someone WITH said product.

My nissan (Azenis) has them, My Lexus has them (Sponsored on FK451) and my Bimmer will soon have a set of FK451's when I find new rims for it....Ive ran thru and used MANY brands (IE: First hand knowlege) and am very happy with the final choice Ive made.

I had more than one offer on the table for a tire sponsor, but I WANTED Falken because I know the product first hand.

Thats actually the first time ive heard someone say anything bad about them, but then again its that grapevine type talk

If they were crap I wouldnt be down with them.....Simple as that.

                  Anywayz, 2 thumbs up from DriftGirl ( D_G )

I dont speak from firsthand cuz Ive never had a set, so point DG. But I cant speak well of any set Ive had 'cept Yoko's. Grippiest stuff Ive ever run. Nittos blow as far as my experience but make great amateur drift tires.

                        Daaaaaang, Chicken head eh'?

And his word is good because he said: "blah, blah, blah....Triust me on this" ? I dont recall him mentioning that he's rolled on a set he just took a shot at a product and quickly moved on.......

Second hand info sux IMHO. It tends to be passed on from one person to another with the last person swearing the person who told them is 'The Master' .......Still with me?

Many factors can play a part in tire wear / performance. Suspension being the main one.......

Ive seen people complain about their tires wearing, etc etc... Take a look and their Camber setup looks like an Anime car's.

Rollin on 25% of the tread and then complain that their tires wear uneven.

                          back to azenis

Well, back to the whole azenis thing... I run them on my miata for autox cause Im poor. They do quite well for the price. The reason that I like them for both grip and the very little drift experience I have is for how predictable they are. The break away is gradual, predictable and gentle.

OT:side note, on Sunday the twenty second (last sunday), I autoxed in the pouring rain on a brand new set of azenis. I hadnt even scrubbed or heat cycled them yet, and I was amazed at the grip I was able to maintain (spanked the guys with hoosiers, hehe).

I know him personally, talk to him fairly often, and you could say we work together...he's owned a set.

I agree with you on all this. Really like the quote of teh day too. "......Still with me?" pleeeeaaaase....try and lose me. Im not gunna call Ash "THE MASTER" but he knows cars prob better than I do. I know I can trust him and he isnt the only source for that info, just the one I trust the most. Now Im not tryin to dog your sponsor. Sorry if I put you in a bad position, but I really wanted to know what you ran, cuz as far as Im concerned, azenis arent an option. Thanks for the time beautiful. hehe

Sorry to jack the thread, but I have a Sr swapped S14 and am a beginner drifter (not driver!) with somewhat limited $. What size wheels and tires would you recommend? I am thinking 17x8 or 9 all around with 215 or 225/45/17?

Those tires seem a little skinny for 8 or 9 inch wide wheels. I have 235s on my S14. Not sure the width cuz the wheels came with the car but maybe they're 8+es. But 235s look great. But I cant imagine a beginning drifter wanting that much contact patch. I put some grippy 215s on it and its almost difficult to break loose. Oh, and if you are looking for wheels with that kinda width...limited funds won't cut it.
