Does anyone know why the S15 never made it to U.S. land. I would think that it would be big right around this time??? I'm just sayin'.

because its nissan
Nissan of america makes horrible decisions. The s14s did sell horribly, but the S15 is a higher performance, and in most opinion better looking car. Especialy with a turbo as an option.
There is no single offical reason as to why it never made it here. But ask your self. Why didnt the Sr20det come in our S13 and S14? offically its because of smog reasons. but thats bull im pretty sure nissan could of got its 'dirty' ol huge sr20 to pass smog if they tried. there bright people over there. Same thing with the skyline.
Hell it even goes down to why didnt they name our S13 the "silvia" instead of the uninspired '240sx'
Lets face it, when it comes to what to sell where, nissan has a history of bad descisions.

Ask any japanese person if the word Silvia or Fairlady or Skyline or nissan in general makes him think of a "*Censored**Censored**Censored**Censored**Censored* brand" Theres alot more history behind those names then a number assigned based on displacement and a hell of alot more personality.
Think of the Ford Mustang. Doesnt that sound better then the Ford T5. as they were sold in some parts of europe.
If Nissan in the 90s sold the stuff here that they sold in japan they would be considered "the performance brand"

Im pretty sure he's aware of that (talking to SR power). But thanks Im with nissanguy. Nissan has a history of making poor decisions. Plus the US got the SR20de, you think a turbo on it would have made a big deal smog wise. I realize there are many differences besides the lack of turbo, but the argument stands. No. As for the names, I believe Fairlady and Silvia would have helped sales in the US. Many auto-x guys prefer to think of their cars as females. I think appeal with the epitome of motorsports wouldnt be looked at as "*Censored**Censored**Censored**Censored**Censored*". Think of an agressive sounding car offered in the states. How many times have you seen that car performance driven?Last edited by hachiroku-fc3s; 02-23-2004, 10:35 AM.

Especially if the company sold us the R32 in the early 90s. as there pure sports car. That thing would of kicked so much *Censored**Censored**Censored*. especialy against the corvettes of its day.
Anyways in all im just dissapointed that nissan never did make those descisions. Instead they sold us a NA S13/14 and a very expensive twin turbo tourer. the 300zx. until they priced them selfs out of the sports car business.
It seems to becomming back nissan is selling 350Zs like hotcacks. im seeing alot of rx8s recently and lots of WRXs with a handful of STIs and Evos. maybe this time around nissan wont make the same mistakes.

well the french company renault are helping nissan now and they have some nice cars e.g. the 3.0 MR hot hatch named the renault clio sport V6 plus they race in the super 1600 rally (think small engine's in WRC cars)
the s13 did poory here but the 180sx aka 200sx did pritty well as did the s14 they all had the sr20det and ca18det but still we can only get the s15 as a gray import now that sillyLast edited by BL1TZ_W1NG; 02-23-2004, 12:23 PM.
