(NEWS UPDATE) D1 GRAND PRIX USA Series
Update: The D1 Underground has taken off like a rocket. The program was launched on February 4th and just 22 short days later, over 280 drivers and 50 events have registered and are now featured on the website with a backup of events trying to register so fast our web people can't keep up with it. This program has been embraced by the grassroots drifting community across America and is now starting to infect beyond the U.S. borders. At this pace, the projection is that there will be more than 400 drivers and over 100 events registered in the next month. It is scarry to think of where this will be 6 month's or even a year from now.
News: D1 Underground will be a featured event at the Honda / IRL of St. Petersburgh Florida. This event will be an invitational format and hosted by Harri Tervola of the Florida Drift Championships. The event will be held under the watchful eye of the D1GP USA Competition Director, Terence Jenkins and the D1GP USA staff will be there in full force to promote D1GP USA and to help support the D1 Underground.
News: There have been a ton of rumors swirling about the next group of D1GP (Japan) drivers who will be entering the D1GP USA Championship Points Series. By now you can see that the latest to enter were Team Orange and as their cars get loaded onto the boats, the question is who will be next?
News: It seems everyone wants a piece of D1GP USA as drivers from all over America, Japan, Finland, England, Canada, Mexico, Australia and beyond are prepping their cars for the upcomng series. Here you see a picture of Carl Nadeau from the DMCC series who will be competing at D1GP USA.
Updates: The events leading up to the series opener in Anaheim seem to be shaping up to be quite amazing. Thursday night prior to the event, the D1GP USA drivers will be throwing it down at K1 Speed in Anaheim for a little go kart and autograph session. On Friday night plans are under way for an unbelievable pre-party and the details of that will be coming very soon.
Update: As most of you know by now, the D1GP USA series will be touring all across the U.S. in 09'. We have had allot of questions regarding if the cars and drivers will be at each event and if so, how we do it. Well, the answer is yes they will be at every event and how we do it is that we have two fully built rigs that can transport 12 cars as seen in the sketch above. These rigs come to the event and then act like transformers turning into media, judging and team towers on top of the rigs, serve as the VIP area (get those VIP tickets before they are gone because this is the place to be btw) trackside while the other side serves as the backdrop for our stage / winners circle.
