VAUGHN GITTIN JR. AND THE 2010 FORD MUSTANG DRIFT JAPAN

Vaughn Gittin Jr. is preparing to embark on a once-in-a-lifetime journey – a journey that he’s dreamed about ever since he was first exposed to drifting. Today he heads to the land of the rising sun to meet his awaiting partner – a 500-horsepower 2010 Ford Mustang. Prior to the car’s trip to Japan, the Ford Racing crew in Detroit bolted on his shopping list of performance parts including a Ford Racing supercharger and intercooler, an Exedy clutch, a Ford Racing FR3 suspension pack, a Ford Racing brake kit, HRE wheels, a K&N air filter, Bosch Performance spark plugs, and of course, the unfortunate victims of Vaughn’s throttle-heavy foot – Falken Tires.

Vaughn has accomplished a lot in a Ford Mustang – he has won two World Championships, podiumed in multiple Formula Drift events, won a time-attack round, performed countless exhibitions, has given thousands of lucky enthusiasts ridealongs, broke a world record, and drove across the country to experience the Mustang’s 45 years of fast, fun and affordable driving. This journey through Japan is definitely going to be one of his best Mustang stories yet.

The trip kicks off in Osaka, where he will meet up with some friends to check out the local scene. Next he will head to the Bihoku Highland Circuit to enjoy his first-ever Japanese style grassroots drift day. A couple days later he’ll meet up with the “Drift King”, Keiichi Tsuchiya, at the YZ Circuit to drift and do some time-attack.

Next stop… Tokyo to let some of the locals experience the 2010 Mustang for themselves – something Vaughn is extremely excited about. Drifting is a gift that Japan gave to America, a gift that is very special to him. He intends to return the favor by giving Japan a little bit of America in the form of this country’s favorite muscle car, Mustang.

After Tokyo, it’s up to Ebisu – a track that he has dreamed of drifting for as long as he can remember. He will meet up with some D1GP drivers who he has competed against on many occasions. While these drivers have competed against Vaughn and his Mustang many times, they have never experienced driving a Mustang themselves – until now.

“I’m insanely excited for this trip to Japan,” says Vaughn. “Not only am thrilled to drift places I have only dreamed of, but also to give others the opportunity to experience why I love the Mustang so much. It is a true honor to have this chance to be able to experience the home of drifting in a Ford Mustang.”

Does the journey to Japan sound like a dream you have? If you could unleash your inner Mustang, how would you do it? Don’t hold back, think chance-of-a-lifetime. The crew over at Ford is going to help several other people unleash their own personal Mustang experience just like Vaughn did. Tell them in 250 words or less what would happen if you were to sit in the driver’s seat of a 2010 Ford Mustang. You never know, your idea might just be one of The ‘10 Unleashed experiences that are made a reality. Check out www.The10Unleashed.com March 9th for the details. If you can’t wait till then, be sure to check out www.The2010Mustang.com.

Also, be sure to watch the incredible video below shot during Vaughn’s December road trip from coast to coast in a 2010 Mustang. The video highlights him destroying the drifting world record at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
