    Top 32 Qualifying Results

    Tanner Foust takes out Calvin Wan in the first round with consistent and clean driving proving why he was the #1 qualifier.


    The 2nd round was a Toyo Tires battle with Ken Gushi and Michihiro Takatori battling it out. After a close battle…its goes to a One More Time battle. After another close battle Takatori spun out chasing Gushi. Giving Gushi the win and advances him to the TOP 16.

    Vaughn Gittin, Jr. battles against Taka Aono. Vaughn’s Mustang power proved too much for the little Corolla and advances to the Top 16.

    With car problems plaguing Casper Canul during the battle with Ryan Tuerck, Canul’s car shuts down during the run giving the win to Ryan Tuerck.

    Ryuji Miki and John Wagner, a rookie in his first Formula DRIFT professional event, battle it out. Miki easily moves past the rookie into the Top 16.

    Tyler McQuarrie in his Falken Tires Nissan 350 battles another rookie Michael Essa in his LS1 powered RX7. The battle was close and the judges announced a One More Time. In the 1st round of the OMT battle, Essa spins into the kitty litter giving Mcquarrie the advantage.

    Samuel Hubinette vs. FD rookie Jeff Jones. Hubinette edges out the rookie in his Mopar Dodge Viper.

    In the battle of the Chris’. Chris Forsberg goes up against Chris Kregorian. Kregorian has tires off the track and Forsberg advances.

    Pat Mordaunt and Dai Yoshihara battle to a One More Time. Pat sticks to Dai’s door and edges him out for the victory.

    Joon Maeng and Doug VanDenBrink battle. VanDenBrink bumps Maeng by the clipping point. Maeng losses a sideskirt. Joon Maeng moves on to the Top 16.

    Tony Brakohiapa gets a bye run against Stephan Verdier and advances forward.

    Justin Pawlak moves on past Matt Waldin after Waldin spins on the 2nd run.

    Darren McNamara vs. Carl Rydquist. Rydquist straightens out in first run gives McNamara the advantage. Close 2nd run…with Rydquist staying ahead of McNamara. One More Time. Darren McNamara moves on to the Top 16.

    Ross Petty vs. Kenji Yamanaka. Petty moves on to the Top 16

    Rhys Millen against Tommy Suell. Millen advances when Suell spins out.

    Robbie Nishida vs. Brian Wilkerson. Robbie Nishida moves on to the Top 16

    Half-Time…more action to come in about an hour and a half.

    Vaughn Gittin’s Falken Tires Ford Mustang GT on fire during the driver introductions…stay tuned if he will make it for his battle against Ryan Tuerck.

    TOP 16

    The battle of the Scions with Ken Gushi and Tanner Foust battling it out. Tanner Foust spun chasing Ken Gushi and Gushi advances to the Great 8.

    Ryan Tuerck and Vaughn Gittin battle in a close heat. Tuerck proves why he is the Formula DRIFT points leader and a beats out Gittin, when Gittin made a correction while chasing the Solstice.

    Tyler McQuarrie vs. Ryuji Miki. McQuarrie moves on after Miki spins out.

    Samuel Hubinette vs. Chris Forsberg. Both runs were really close and the judges give it a One More Time. In the One More Time battle, Sam Hubinette sets the highest speed of the day with 87.8 mph. After the judges each voted differently which leads to the 2nd and final One More Time for this round. Hubinette runs into the side of Forsberg. The judges award the victory to Forsberg because of the collision.

    Joon Maeng vs. Pat Mordaunt. Joon spins in the first run, while leading. Mordaunt moves on to the Great 8.

    Tony Brakohiapa vs. Justin Pawlak. Tony B makes a correction while giving chase to JTP. Justin Pawlak makes it to the Great 8.

    Darren McNamara vs. Ross Petty. Ross Petty spins out into the kitty litter on the first run. A close 2nd run, but Darren McNamara moves on.

    Rhys Millen vs. Robbie Nishida. Close first run. Nishida makes a large gap while Millen gives chase. Nishida makes it into the Great 8.

    TOP 8

    Ryan Tuerck vs. Ken Gushi. Gushi had understeer issues. Tuerck moves to the Final 4.

    Chris Forsberg vs. Tyler McQuarrie. The battle of the 350Zs. Chris Forsberg advances to the Final 4.

    Patrick Mordaunt was DQ’d. Joon Maeng takes his spot against Justin Pawlak in the Great 8. Close battle. The judges call a One More Time. Pawlak spins while leading on the first run. Joon Maeng advances to the Final Four.

    Darren McNamara vs. Robbie Nishida. Nishida spins on the 1st run. Darren McNamara moves on to the Final 4.

    TOP 4

    Tuerck vs. Forsberg. Tuerck makes a small correction in the 2nd run. Forsberg moves to the Finals.

    Maeng vs McNamara. Joon Maeng calls 5 mins. McNamara edges out Maeng. McNamara moves into the Finals.

    Consolation Round for 3rd Place. Maeng vs. Tuerck. Great battle that leads to a One More Time. Another great battle leads to a second One More Time. Maeng goes wide on the first run. Tuerck gets 3rd place after Maeng corrects on the 2nd run

    FINAL ROUNDS

    Chris Forsberg vs. Darren McNamara. Great 1st run with Forsberg sticking close to McNamara’s door. 2nd run had both cars with a spin. Forsberg spins in the horseshoe with a mis-shift and McNamara spins on the last turn by the finish. One More Time is called. 88.2 mph entry by McNamara. Great 2 runs…and the winner is Chris Forsberg!

                  Ken knocked out Tanner. He spun following Ken.
                  I personally think Gushi slowed down at the apex to cause the spin but oh well.

                      It wasn't. Tanner smoked ken in lead so Ken slowed way down in turn 1 to cause Tanner to spin.

                              I'm hearing it's something to do with his tires. Not 100% sure yet though.
