  • Skyline News (Sport Compact Car)

this is in the "notes from the detroit auto show" section of the new SCC magazine.

    * Nissan mega-boss Carlos Ghosn personally promised us that the next Skyline GT-R will be comming to america by 2007 and that its performance benchmark is the porsche 911 He also promised that, like the 350Z, it will deliver alot of performance for the money.

*Ghosn also told us that what's holding nissan back, if anything, is a lack of qualified and capable engineers. It's just hired another thousand engineers and plans on breaking through that bottleneck to produce more exciting products.

This leads the question... Which porsche 911? good god if there aiming for the 911 Turbo... If there just aiming for the Carrera.. well i think the Z already covers that ground doesnt it?

But if they are going to produce a 911 Turbo killer for under 50k then watch out corvette...

and by 2007, does this mean we can see one in 2 years ? im excited. Also note he calls it the "next Skyline GT-R" does this mean that the name wont be split up? Especialy now with the G35 getting AWD.. and Nismo racing a twin turbo vq35. Is it my imgination or are all the ingrediants for a new awesome GTR already there? for those RB fans out there, i too was skeptic of the idea of a v6, much prefer a inline engine like the previous skylines.. but the idea of drapping twin turbos to the sides of a 3.5 liter Atessa equiped G35 is enough to make me giddy.. In the past they said they were shooting for 400hp at least thats the rumor, it seems very possible. I cant wait...

And i recall at least one person saying it may be more then that. Of course even if its not.. we all know how easy it would be to up the boost.

Well they said te 911, but they didn't say the year. What if it was built to handle the 1978 911 Turbo.

Sounds good to me. Let em bring it over, It'll be a nice car to drift in 2011 when it fially comes down low enough for us to buy and feel halfway sane about crashing it.

I already want a G35 with twin turbos... man yum. ill drift that any day! i know im a ricer but.. get me some Skyline JDM badges, and make my own skyline!

not that i can afford that.. but it would be an awesome project. stick my name on it, like guys did back in the muscle car error when they tuned them and the factory picked up on it.

Another thing to consider, the Nismo S and R tuned Sentra and Z are comming out.. So with in a year of the skyline comming out expect to see a Nismo tuned version.

God i hope we get twin turbos heres, and they dont do that stupid "slightly larger NA motor" thing.. *cough* S13 *cough*

i higly doubt that it will out perform a porche 911 Wouldn you think that by 2007 porsche will make their cars more powerfull.
It would out run the boxter but i highly doubt the porsche 911 twin turbo or the 911 Ruf or whatever.
                Just my opinion

                peace

I dont see why not. Consider the car isnt built yet. And the guy who runs the company said they will use that as a bench mark.
the old GTR was known as a fast car. and now were talking about signifigently more displacement. And the fact they can basicly push for any horse power level they want in america.

So its reasonable to assume there pushing for those kind of numbers.

i agree with u nissan guy but when nissan makes makes the 2007 version, Porsche will beat it because by around 2007 porsche will most likly come out with a new model which will be faster.

                    i duno tho

Well lets put it this way. Its not that there trying to "beat" the 911, Its just they are shooting for modern 911 performance numbers on there skyline. Hopefully for cheaper then a 911

At least thats how i took it.

yea that was a good way to put it. If their numbers get around the porsches number's, that car will sell like crazy.

If many people have em , people might consider it a ricer.
                        im worried lol.
dont get me wrong or anything i LOVE skylines.

yeah, the new 911 is coming out in 06, and it supposed to be a lot more performance oriented than the junky little 996's that they have now. they are making it look like more like the original 911. it is beautiful. and considering they already make cars that have 460 hp, 500 isnt that far away...

i just hope the new gt-r has a redesigned exterior, the g35 is all sorts of ugly, it looks nothing like what a gt-r should. look at the r34, you see that roll up behind you on the wangan and it'll scare the isht out of you. the g35 still looks like too much of a luxury sedan, and let's get some round tail lights this time!

i Dissagree. though i felt that way at first, The G35 has grown on me, Actualy i like its look alittle better then the Z, though i like its looks too.

It has that classy but badass look to it. The skyline will probably have some slightly different sheet metal, but considering the G35 is the normal Skyline in japan i wont expect it to be too different.

Looks are all personal, but recently i really began to like the G35 and i think it will be a good replacement for the 34. Alittle different agreed. but still nice. But i think, especialy lowered alittle, it will be a bad *Censored**Censored**Censored* looking car.
