yo kids. I got an 86 starion ESIR (first year of the widebodies intercooled!!)

if you decide to get one, i HIGHLY recommend having a decent understanding of vehicle ignition, fuel, and engine systems in general. these cars a "quirky".

there are plenty of guys on starquestclub.com who have high power daily drivers.

most items are either summit type parts (like fuel pumps and such) or custom jobs that other owners have fabricated (one guys sells custom coilovers that use AGX inserts from a G2 MR2. another guys makes intake hardpipes from aluminum)

the heads DO crack if you run em too hot, so make sure you get a good temp gauge, lower temp thermo stat, rewire the fans to come on at the same time, have the radiator flow tested, cleanse your cooling system totally.

the 87's are notorious for electrical problems

some 86's can be run without the Mass Air Sensor ( LOL )

88's and 89's are the most desirable. some cam with 8 way adjustable struts (thats what I have on my 86)

the engine blocks are the same as the mazda MPV, and B2600 trucks. Caravan heads also work.

assuming you have a good engine to begin with, and you decide to keep the stock turbo (which will boost to 15psi), you could probably spend less than $800 and easily be up to 250HP and GOBS of torque.

        just watch that temp gauge.

All heads crack when they overheat. The jet valves are the problem. The first thing anyone will tell change when building a performance starion is to get a new non jetvalve head. The stock turbo will make 18psi max. Plan on spending a bit morwe than $800 for 250hp though.

yeah definitly more than $800 cause i am making just shy of 300hp and i got alot of money in my motor. i am running 1.2 bar on the stock injection with no issues. now i did port and polish the stock head and throw a cam in it but the bottom end is race preped with oe pistons and head gasket and i dont over heat the car ever...

Dodge also brought out the same car, the Dodge Conquest. Same engine, layout, even the body was the same. They came in the TSI version which looks like what you posted. They also came sans bodykit. Like the one in Cannonball Run. They are getting really hard to find, my brother has one down at his shop right now that he sold for like 800 bucks. The body is great, silver paint, but has a blow turbo. Usually when you find them alot of the electronics are shot out. Those cars are from the "Knightrider days" is what I like to call em when everything had to be digital. Also the seats are usually beat down too. Too bad cause those are nice seats. Had a pair in my Toyota Van. They come with front mounts that alot of people use on Civic conversions for a cheap intercooler.

They aren't bad cars at all. Parts aren't that hard to come by. Companies make stuff for them. Thats the car Buscher pioneered Import Drag racing with. I think his company make alot of stuff for it. If not, you can find it pretty easy. They average from 1500 to 5000 depending on condition, miles etc.
I think you are confused about the movie. I own the Cannonball Run and in the movie Jackie drives a Subaru all-wheel drive car, a little Escort looking thing, and his co-pilot is Chinese. Also to be specific, not trying to be a prick but for search help, it was a Chrysler Conquest. I still look up to you Ghost and I am not trying to be a prick. Oh by the way the movie where he was driving the LanEvo was Who Am I.

In cannonball run II Jackie chan does ride in a starion with jaws as the driver. Look up the movie and there is a picture of the car on the cover. Its black with a big red mitsubishi emblem on it. A guy in the Starquestclub owns it.

Hey 4st air. You say you have alot of money in your car, with stock injection. You might want to change that if your making 300hp like you say. What I and alot of others are doing is plumbing in a injector at each of the Ysplits on the intake runners. The #1 & #4 cylinders have a tendancy to run lean under higher boost. SDS makes an AIC but Im running mine with an ERL AIC. Just trying to help protect your investment.

I didn't realize there was a sequal. Well I guess we were both right in a way Ghost because we were talking about two different movies. Haha. Luckily I stated I wasn't trying to be a *Censored**Censored**Censored**Censored*.

oh yeah the #1 &#4 problem can be solved by simply turning the throttle body 180 degrees. there is a guy in the northeast makin the plates to turn it and it also allows you to run a cooler intake tract by not crossing the valve cover....

$100 bucks for the plate though, $275 on top of that will get you a multi port intake.

thats a great solution if i wouldnt have to buy the $2600 fuel managment system to run that multiport plus a mustang throttle body to put on that intake and then figure out all the other stuff like injectors for it and a fuel rail and fuel pressure regulator and all the little stuff that cost a fortune to get.... not as simple as $350 is it?

Oh dont start playing this game. SDS engine management $800 (much less if you get it in one of the many GP's on the club), Intake comes with a fuel rail& a stock regulator I do believe, Go to a junk yard or ebay and get a throttleboy and the injectors. I was just stating that youd already be that one step closer. All together, A little under 2k.
Im just trying to sway you into it before you go droppin alot of cash on other things that cant be used to their full potential. Kinda like me. I could have alot more power if I wouldve spent the cash for MPI, now Im just buying my time.
