  • Question

hey, IF a mazda, nissan, or any car company manufactored a vehicle specifically tuned for drifting with a very legit R&D team and prestigous history backing it, would there be any fun in driving/drifting/buying a car thats in immaculate form for drifting in it's stock form? If you got a hold of the Honda HSC, would you still try to modify it by putting a body kit on it and tinkering with it's cosmetics? theres alot of people out there who prefer the 350Z's exterior in stock form. Do you think in the future, cars will become so "curvaceously" good looking (350Z) that people would just keep the exterior stock? where would be the diversity be on the auto "scene"? is it a good thing or bad thing? have you guys seen the concept eclipse coming soon (i think it was in scc)? i mean, what kinda body style can you see customizing it into? just like the import trend and alotta other trends, im beginning to think that exterior customization will be more....left stock for future car models (not older models).

Ok, this could get moved soon but questions like this pose as an enigma to an adolescent's feeble mind.

BTW, what would you think about a ricey "looking" car (meaning oversized spoilers, 8 oversized mufflers, and an oversized decal covering the windshield) that has the performance to back it up but is only used for the street?

Nothing wrong with a stock exterior. I'm no fan of body kits.

IF they were to do such a thing to a car, sure there would be fun in driving, buying, that car. Why not? What would make it so this car wouldn't be fun? The fact that you couldnt modify it? I think it would just make a great beginning platform for great drift cars to come from

The thing is that everyone has their own preference of what the perfect drift car should be. Thats why there is a million different suspension and engine settings that are on the D1 circuit. None of them run the same spring rates, dampening levels, or wheels/tires. Thats because there isnt a perfect drift car that two people could feel that it is perfect for them.

As for the body kit thing, it would be personal preference again. Some people dont like the body styling of certain cars. The 180sx type X has a great looking body and kit, but people take it off a modify it anyways, because not everyone likes it, or the S15 spec-R, another great looking car stock, but people modify it because they like another look. Also, it may be an issue of aerodynamics, so the new 350z looks great, but it may lack downforce so they add a large GT wing. Maybe they want brake cooling so they add a front facia to add brake scoops to the front.

There is no such thing as the perfect car. There never will be. It is because there can't be.

As for the ricey wings and decals and stuff, It would still be useless because the 8 mufflers and stuff is just weighing down an otherwise even faster car. Why make your fast car slower and ugly?
