    why the 86

oh yeah, i forgot to write why i like the 86. ive been around them since 1985. my friends dad use to drive us to school in an 85 gts. i got older and more into cars, and reliezed that it was a pretty sweet car. at the time i drove a 71 vw. not to fast, but rwd. ever since then i have tried to drive rwd. had a 2nd gen rxl. too expensive to keep, so i sold it and found a gts. been with it ever since. i like the feel and the look of the gts, plus they are not to expensive. so thats why, what about you?

I feel in love with the Nissan Silvia. I then became a fan of all nissans. I had to buy one. The S13 Nissan Silvia is my favorite car in the world. I had to buy something cose, so enter my S13 240sx Coupe. I would love a silvia front end once i get all my engine and suspension work done. Being a drifter i dont worry much about asthetics, i just love that body style. I cant compare her to driving a 86 because i have never drove one. I like the 86, But i will always be a fan of the S13.

If i had to name things i like about my car in comparison to a 86 i would probably say, its a newer vehichle, so i think it looks alittle better and its in better shape then most older 86s (because the owners didnt take care of them) but mainly i would say the 2.4 liter engine. Maybe im a domestic guy at heart, but i always prefer more displacement if it dosnt effect handling that is.

Of course i wish the thing had a turbo and a LSD, but whatcha going to do? i know.. install them!

Anyways i have nothing against the 86s im quite fond of them. I just happen to be a S13 owner.

i havent really driven an 86 yet.. but i got to drive my friend's 240...

i'd think they'd both have their own different ups n downs just like comparing any other cars... more of what prefrence u like... i personally love the way fc's handle/drive... (thats why im looking for one!! though im open to other cars...)

ive only been in a 240 once. it was cool, but i still wish i was in my 86. the ae86 came stock with lsd, well the gts did, so this made the choice easier for me. i also go for the boxie look. i do really like the sil-80 front, with the early model tail lights. i lick that square feel. any way, thanks, just want to know more about the 240s. thanks

I've owned two 86 (may they RIP)..
I liked the feel of them, so light.. needed to be lowered but all in all a fun little thing. my first taste of RWD and it tasted GOOD!!!

Been in a couple 240s, they felt pretty good, didn't get a chance to drift them though...

I'm not a big fan of the s13's in general. The look hasn't grown on me yet.. maybe if I owned one. I like the s14 97-98 shark eyes. I want one of those.

Though for arguements purposes I can see my next car being not an AE86... its just so hard to find one in good condition.. rust and age pretty much ended my first two.. was in pretty ugly accident.. only a minor impact but after seeing all the metal snap and bend so easily from rust I just tend to stay away from them.,..

if its luxo drift box I'm gonna have to side with DTM power.. it can take the hit and keep plowing.

but that'd kinda a kool class to have in a drift series.. 4 door sedan...

but back to topic... sigh I miss the ae86 a bit at times.. i just wish they're in prime condition.. not mention I'd wish I could import one from japan for cheap.. though if I went there and got myself and just ship here it'd be cheap.. though the plane ticket to japan alone would cost almost as much as the car..

The importers here charge an arm, leg, and chunk of something else for an AE86... $7000+ cdn for one.. sure it has coilovers, a roll cage and LSD but that's way too much..

I love the s13, used to own one but sold it recently. I found out what a silvia was about 3 years ago and got a 240sx coupe trying to make one. It was great up until about this last year or so, everyone and their mom wanting an SR and 180sx JDM shiet, so I got rid of it with the silvia front end. I love those cars, and they are sweet to drive and drift. I am getting a corolla from a buddy of mine, ive drifted it once before, its different from an S13 and a little less stable than it because of the shorter wheel base, but easy and fun. I wish the 240 scene had never blown up like it did. I find that ricers arent as attracted to the corolla because most of them need work, and most ricers dont know how to work on cars, so its a purer crowd you might say. Guys who love and work on these cars with their own hands, not paying the shop money to install the SR and a body kit.

a little off topic, but I feel the same way about other old Yotas, particularlly my 85 Celi, because they need work, and that automatically filters out ricers
