it's not just drivers in this country that suck, it's the cars, first flaw, most cars are FF, second well this might not be so much of a flaw, but the are stock with a slight toe in to give more stability to people who can't drive well, the soft suspension, sometimes to sell a car the sales man will drive over some rail road tracks to demonstrate what a smooth ride it is, will he demonstrate it's handling capabilities, no. because it has none, most cars are installed with a weak sway bar, because sway bars don't sell cars. Statistically most interstate deaths are single car accidents. many start as a single car and then compound, if you look at the skid marks on the interstate, you will now see many marks made by small cars where the tire marks cross on another, this means the cars was spinning, a sudden braking or passing manuver and the driver loses, it. this is why my next car is going to be FR not just because it can drift but because they are designed to handle, unless of course you live in ohio,

most ppl dont really care about a car performance ability and such. they just want a car that they think is cool and can bring them around. like suvs.. why do so many ppl have them??? they eat so much gas... cant turn for crap... and they flip over so much and yet so many ppl have them thinking theyre safe cause their car is so much bigger and higher then everyone elses... then they find themselves inverted in a ditch...
you know the permit for 6 months thing.. maybe it should be like a year? and include some emergency situations courses. also teach more into depth the consequences in driving recklessly on public roads. idk.. some ideas of mine. maybe its because most americans really dont care? its very sad...

And since when are FR cars "Designed to handle" and FF cars aren't. 95% of all cars, regardless of drivetrain configration, are designed to understeer if you turn the wheel to hard... Even Corvettes, Camaros, the strangely beloved nissans, and Rx7s understeer in stock form if you just turn the wheel to hard.
I certainly feel a lot safer on the road knowing that most of the cars on tho road arent going to go out of control into a spin even when driven at the limit, unless someone does something really stupid.

your have a point, however you missed mine, FF cras are more likely to understeer, this is fact, FR cars can understeer, but are not as prone as the FF drivetrain, the toe-in is a good thing, "with a slight toe in to give more stability to people who can't drive well," it also prevents bump steer, but does somewhat decrease handling capabilities. you said " certainly feel a lot safer on the road knowing that most of the cars on tho road arent going to go out of control into a spin even when driven at the limit, unless someone does something really stupid" I somewhat agree. but I have seen an heard of and been in accidents caused by understeer, these accidents are usually a head on collision which results in the highest mortality rate" there is no perfect suspension layout, it all depends on the driver, so what we need is better educated drivers, who prefer less body roll, so the manufactuerer start putting money into building better handling suspension, instead of the popular, cushy ride.
