its a shame there wasnt more nissan 200sx's in the competiton

Because we are all fairly new at this in UK there is an amature competition for drifters with little or n experience, and the pro competition for drifters that can drift pritty well. hey do not hav the standard as top jap drifters, its actually quite far away at the moment in terms of skill but it looks good still

I will post some links to pictures and vids in the other section within the next few days.

Well its not an official sport yet as this is really only its second year with rounds and competitions and prizes.
Last year we had 1 place that let us drift and compete. This year we have secured the most popular track in england for the drifting champtionship and have many different airfields and patches of tarmac for practice events all around the country. The interest in drifting has grown 10 fold in the last 6 months alone.
Performance parts companies are activly importing mods specifically for drifting now. So what if its not technically "professional". But there are official sponsores like HKS and real prizes that will make a difference to the winners and runers up. We are trying very hard to promote the sport and who knows in a few years time we could have brits, americans and japanese all competing in some sort of world D1 GP. Damn im gettin excited again hehe

since they aren't using the name D1 Grand Prix, they won't get in "trouble"

well aparently there were a few japanese drifters doing a show of some sort the week before. So i cant see how they dont know about it. I dont know why anyone would want to cause trouble anyway because there is no competition between the events.
yeah compared to US and japan its crap. england is a tiny place and everywhere has houses of fields. theres no room for huge bits of tarmac to drift on. Maybe some big company or some rich person will build a driftland here. that would be great

Well I entered the First Round......

The standards are variable to say the least, however the standard of entusiasm was brilliant, but thats what made it huge fun for the entrants & spectators alike. I've been involved in all sorts of motorsport & this has got to be the most friendly.

I think 6-700 people turned up to watch which is OK numbers for a first event in th UK, however the venue can hold 200K!, you wait I wanna be there.

It's also great to say "oh yeah the UK F1 circuit, yep drifted that one" it's got some wicked corners in it by the way.

Think I came 7th according to the points

That'll be Options Motorports (tuning co in the uk) who are the guys who have got it off the ground & done all the hard work.
