    geez... don't bring up the nationality issue again! if u think D1 is comprised of racists... don't support them by going to their events. from what it seemed like... the judges were more excited as a fraction of the US drivers progressed during the event. just my opinion though. anyways... this is a one sided argument because the japanese have way more experience in this motorsport. if u think they are being racist just because an american driver did not win. u need to grow up.

      Yeah right, You go right now, hit the search button and search for "rhys defeated!" a thread i made up of pictures i took at the D1, the reason Rhys didnt make the top 16 was because he wasnt good enough. He couldnt control his line, he looked like crap comming out of the hairpin, and he couldnt keep up. I watched with my own eyes. If you think there was racism envolved you need to go look at that thread.

      Rhys couldnt follow, and he couldnt look. By the first turn the S15 that put him down was so far ahead that the GTO wasnt even in the shot.

      Rhys had hardly any time with his GTO, hopefully he will be better at the upcomming formula D event. HOWEVER he lost at the D1, because he wasnt able to drift as well as the other guys. End of Story.

      EDIT:

      Further More, i think the GTO's position was padded enough. The judges probably gave him more points for such a heavy and difficult car (they do that), However there where drivers and cars that i felt did better the Ryhs that didnt make it as far as he did.

        Just wait - I have faith in Rhys...

        art of being a good driver isbeing able to adapt, and he is most definately a god driver.

        NissanGuy is totally right about the V-10's torque. The Viper can be powering over at 2500 rpm.

          I'm not dogging rhys, he's a good driver. ...anyone remember the first D1, when Ernie Fixmer went up against the then previous year champion...? His angles were more aggresive, his speeds were good, and his slides started earlier than his counter part. Funny thing is ernie didn't make it past that round. Also I know how Options works...they are not the most political company.

            Rhys is dealing with a very heavy car that he's had to get the bugs out of. We should probably withhold judgement until Rhys gets the thing sorted out and see how he does in a couple of Formula D events. As for Sam he has the talent to go all the way, he'll just have to get his setup right. The one plus for Sam is that he has to work only on the setup as opposed to Rhys who has to try to work the bugs out of his car. So I'm saying the advantage is Sam's at this point.

            I think it'll just take a while for the domestic guys to get up to speed, simply because the Japanese have been drifting for so long. But I don't see why they couldn't be competitve in the long-run.

            As of right now I still think that it's gonna take a Z06 with a good driver to take a D1 victory, but as time goes by the domestic guys shoud be able to be competitive in Mustangs and Camaros. With Revlimits new Camaro being the first purpose-built domestic drift car finally having the bugs out of it, we should see how domestics stack up versus the Japanese rides at the next driftsession.

              Still not done with it though *slaps forehead* haha...hopefully by next week I will have my Zo6 front brakes on my car. And maybe in a month or so have my 8 point roll bar installed.

              As for the ernie fixmer thing he deserved to lose in the first d1. His drifting line and speed wasn't good enough in my opinion. Imamura won because he did better.

                  And there is a difference between talking crap and being frank about wether one driver and his automobile was competitve or not.

                  And aparently Rhys and his GTO didnt get too far in the Formula D event. Like Tsunami mentioned he has to shake the bugs out of his car first, and it is a very heavy vehichle so he is going to have to work with it. Im not sure the lay out of the Formula D event, but it was a road course, typically road courses favor lighter cars that can switch position and angle easier. At the D1 in irwindale you had mostly a series of sweepers, which doesnt impead heavy cars as bad, We may very well of seen Rhys get better with the GTO, only to be held back by the GTO its self on that course.

                  Obviously though thats just assumptions and thoughts based on what i heard, i saw the GTO in irwindale, but havent seen or even seen/heard any good coverage of Formula D yet.

                  Lets wish him our best and hope he does better in the next Formula D event, i will be watching both Sam's viper and Rhys' GTO at laguna seca this upcomming weekend, and will be able to give a first hand account of how well they are doing, i will no doubt, discuss it further then.

                  And by the way, big big props to Sam's team,him and that viper must of really been doing well to win there first competition. It makes me wonder how different the competition there was from the D1 leauge. Either way, Sam is probably the best American drifter out there right now. He was the highest ranking American at the D1, put on a hell of the show, and has won the first Formula D event.

                  I'd love to get that guy on here to hear his thoughts on it.

                  anyways enough random thoughts for me for now.

                    For Sure

                    Considering Mr. Millen's background, and the heavy detroit metal he was sliding, I have to say he did a respectable job. It was his first time at the event and he was driving a car that no one had any experience drifting except himself. My friends and I cheered for Rhys, and we tryed hard to cheer louder than the booers next to us. It may be a Japaneese series, but that just means we have more to overcome to even become equal in the big picture. Booing isn't gonna make the D1 any more exciting.

                      From what I heard this weekend, not a lot of people know it...but Calvin Wan is about as American as they get. Watch for him!

                                At FD Rhys drove great Sat during the practice, but Sun at the first qualify he didn't do so well, he exspecially had a harder time linking the turns than he did Sat. I dont know why that was, but he did. Now Sam drifted the crap out of that course both days and made 3 passes on Sun, which was a big part of his score. Even though he earned that win, that track was better suited to his high hp car. The track was basicly 2 & 1/2 lanes wide going up to the horse shoe, then narrowing down to 2 lanes wide going threw the shoe, back to the 2 & 1/2 lane strip to the finish/start. 3 out of the 5 turns being uphill. I think I have some pics of the couse, I will put them up a little later on.
