what you are saying is that the class of car the GTO is not suited to you ? because lets not kid ourselves the evo and sti are far more cramped inside than a GTO..

if we look at other big coupes,

how much does an M3 weigh ?

how much does a CLK55 weigh?

    volvo c70 ?

pretty close to the same mark ...

Yes i am saying that. All the cars you named the m3, the CLK, the volvo, i wouldnt buy them either.

To little performance for the money, i rather buy an evo.

the enterior being cramped does that matter for a sports car. Remember Sports car. what the GTO pretends to be, lets not kid ourselfs either, a sports car is about performance.

Also i seriously doubt a Z3 weighs as close to 4k as the GTO does, and i can pretty much promise you it will outform it too. so thats a bad example.

uhmm i thought the GTO was a muscle car... muscle cars being derivatives of their plain grocery getter counterparts... but with the big motor, and maybe some scoops and stripes

muscle cars arent suposed to be outran by four cylenders. muscle cars are suposed to be somewhat affordable.

the GTO back in its day was pretty high content/luxury compared to some of the striped out mopar's or chevy's of the day.

any way this isn't going anywere ... so we both have differing opinions.

*whistles* heavy car. but i do apreciate the sold numbers.

i dont know why you dissagree with me actualy, i just think the GTO should be cheaper for whats offered.

why whats lacking , the iterior leaves people gasping , and saying "this is a GM interior?"

and the motor is an aftermarket tuners wet dream... sure ls1 + 37XX lbs = mid to high 13's , but a 100shot of nitrous sent the car to high 11;s in the 1/4, you cant fault the drivetrain...

out of the box performance. and i never understood the obsession over interiors.

For me the perfect interior is that of an AC Cobra. hell give me a stripped out 510 with one racing seat, and assorted gauges and you have a interior fit for a king.

maybe you didn't, but the automotive world had an obsession with bashing GM interiors for the last 10 years,,, they'll need to look elsewhere now as far as the GTO is concerned.

as for performance mid 13's is not bad, if not the 400hp ls2 next year should have it seeing 12's and that without an AWD launch aiding it.

But since we're talking drifting here, the 1/4 mile times dont matter. This sport is about balance and technique, not power. IMO the stock USA GTO would not be an ideal drift car for the beginner. I'll say it straight up. Way too heavy (3700+) and the balance is off (55/45). Yeah it will drift but I dont consider it ideal because the weight makes the learnig curve very steep. Look at my 3rd gen Camaro, its 400 pounds lighter than the GTO and still very very heavy when compared to the rest of the cars out there drifting. My car slides for a long time man and I dont mean that in a good way. Dropping 800 pounds on the D1 GTO is a big deal. Might be out of range for the average enthusiast. Who cares what the interior looks like because it will probably be gutted. Nah man, I like the GTO and the LS1 just as much as you, but I gotta be honest. For the price you can get a car that is much better suited to drifting (who cares what class they are in).
