i emailed them and heres what they said
First, he doesn't have the right of attending the D1 over here. Actually, he hasn't been a D1 driver. However, he worked at Signal and so that was named Drifter X so could make it to D1 at first. Nowadays, Drifting and D1 are the most popular over there so many famous drifters show up in America so Komatsu couldn't make himself outstanding just like other drifters...
It was great opportunity for him to come out as a Drifter X over there but he couldn't continue as a exciting Drifter X anymore.
We have to show up as the most exciting company over there from now as well so will keep on doing everything!!
