I've tried a petition. If I had more people interested, I might be able to get somewhere.

Here's the link: Enthusiasts Against Visual Inspection

You'd be able to swap whatever engine you want, provided it passes smog.

Petitions are crap, call your local repersentative and talk to him personally, then talk about a petition.

I would do that if I could speak more eloquently, but I often get tongue-tied speaking to those in power. Petitions are easy and you don't have to talk to anyone over the phone.

Petitions are easy but for the most part, they are worthless. Nothing ever really happens because of them. My bet would be a rallly (or a riot, which ever that is more fun)

GRiDRaceTech, I think you might have a better time talking to people in power over the phone so it doesn't seem as intimidating.

Also if we really wanted too by proving what Nissanguy said (or other points) about the SR better at emissions at low boost, we probably could get the SR legalized. You just have to try.

Motor stuff is the EPA , and for California CARB.

The motor differences - as far as crash testing goes ~ DOT would probably accept it.

It said something about installing the correct smog equipment and going to a ref (can't remember where, something like the E-check building) and it if passes, you can legaly drive around in an S15 SR if you have the money, hell, you could even get an RB legalized if i am right.
If you went though FTP testing it would be possible to have a legal SR20DET in a RWD platform.

The SR did come in some FWD platforms , and even Jim Wolf has a turbo kit with a CARB EO number for a FWD kit on an SR.

An RB would actual be a more legal swap as it has a Certificate of Conformity courtesy of Motorex. As long as you had all the same smog equipment as the Motorex federalized vehicle , the swap would be legal.

Go to the smog ref - let them check the car - they do a smog check and it passes.

You get a CARB label. It doesnt stop the cops from messing with you , but when you do , you have nothing to worry about.
