    i keep reading your posts rwd_polak, and i'm sorry if this hurts your feelings or you take this as flaming but;

the swap you speak of won't happen for $4k, unless you're cutting all kinds of corners and only want the car to barely run. the wiring takes many hours due to half the car being computer controlled and it's very complex. not to mention not many shops if you do the swap with a stock motor/tranny and no real upgrades you'd barely scrape by for $5k unless you get some astronomical deal on the motor set. if you do so much as get a real clutch for it, a turbo upgrade, freshen up some of the gaskets/timing belt, etc, it's going to run far beyond that. this is why you do research beforehand by either reading up yourself, or asking questions to others. instead of coming into this saying "i'm gonna do it even though i have no clue about any of it", you can ask mildly educated quetions or actually even educate others about the swap. from your posts so far you don't really know anything other than you want a motor you know nothing about, and that it's going to magically appear in your car for $4k or less.

good luck with it, but start surfing around and trying to find real info, you will see what i'm talking about.

      Meh,
that was my guess, I didn't really say that it'd cost under 4k, but I see your point. And I never said it's going to magically appear, or it'd be an easy job. I have researched about it, and do know that it'll be a big switch. So what you just told me is that your just jumping to conlusions, but go ahead, it's alright .

Oh and I have asked questions :P

Don't worry, I'm not that retarded to realize about how big this projekt is...

But whatever, I don't need to post here anymore, I haven't gotten anyhelp so thanks everyone! And I'll touch up and shove it in your face when I'm done.

But if this might be to much, I might try and find a standard tranny for an older/newer ls and put it in here. who knows.

everyone needs to back off. A 2JZ is an I6,we've had that beat into our heads a million times over already on this post. What's it to anyone that this guy wants to do what he wants to do? It's not your car. When I was 15, I wanted to put a 2JZ in a SC. Would anyone flame that? There's been posts from other folks over and over again about what I wanted to do and people were more than willing to lend some ideas. Well, that was a few years ago and I got interested in other platforms (not to mention I didn't have 2 bucks to put towards it), but doesn't mean I still don't think my idea was cool. This guy has the goods to start his project and I say congrats. Kid, you have ambition and I applaude that. Some variety can only help the drifting community.

RWD, you still need to do some more research, some advice from buddies is hardly a substitute for cracking a book(or webpage). Know your car first and then talk. Even if you have someone else do the work for you, it's still a difficult process. Anyway, I hope I see your "LS300" sometime soon on the forum. Good Luck

Thank you for your reply, finally some one with a little respect. Yeah, but I understand what y'all are saying, I'm going to get in touch with my car a little more before I do anything to drastic.
                  Oh and it's an LS400

Yep -- I would. You could just buy a damn SC300 and be done with it

Yeah, I didn't realize that til I was 16, haha, show's how much I knew back then.

                        Nah, I meant a 2JZ-GTE on a SC

EDIT: RWD, the "LS300" was referring to your LS after it got the 2jz in it

I think its hilarious how you come to drifting.com and your first post is a flame over something you was never involved in. I think you should mind your own buisiness.

And by the way, I am 16 and getting my permit tomarrow. I know alot more about cars than the average 16 year old New Yorker.

                              That's awsome bro,
I'm getting my permit soon to, and I do know some stuff about cars, but not much about motors :P
But I'm not a bad drifter
I'll get a video up, when my parents aren't home.

Oh and if you want to see my car, it's on the page b4.

rwd polak - Where did you find a 2JZ for $1000 or less? I've been looking for one for a while but haven't ever seen one for under $3000.

I was intrigued by your idea for a swap so I did a series of searches on various engines, and I believe that you would be setting a precedent if you went ahead with this swap. No one seems to have done it or even dreamed it up besides yourself. It seems that IS and SC Lexus' (Lexi?) are fairly compatible with the 2JZ. Maybe your driving the wrong Lexus . I think that the V8 powered ES 400 can be a lethal drift machine. If I was you, (and truly I wish I was) I would start by pursuing a standard transmission. If you find, after attaining a standard transmission that you do not have enough power I would look around to see if a supercharger is available for your car. I read at a Lexus owners group forum that a supercharger was available for the ES 300 after '97 so I would guess that a similar kit would be available for your car in '97, and it could probably be adapted to your car. Sorry if my facts are wrong, my search was brief...
